MechLore is a sci-fi action/adventure rpg.

Its been in development for 4  years and is planned for a 2012/2013 release.

New Dev Blog Updated weekly:

Most Recent Blog Post: Glyph Words

I recently added "Glyph" words to the game. Glyphs are gems that you find that you can socket into items to grant them special properties.

Each glyph is its own "word". By phonetically combining glyphs to make "real" words, you can create powerful items called glyphwords.

"Or" + "Eye" +"Un" or "En" = "Orion"
Or + Dar = "Order"

looks good. cool to see it's not a straight up diablo clone and  the megaman influence appears to extend to more than just looks.

will it have co-op?

sadly no co-op or multiplayer.

As my first serious game project, stepping straight into multiplayer seemed overambitious.

The main focus of my next game will definitely be multiplayer.

Created a small space-shooter minigame inside the MechLore engine

Plus a preview of a different environment/scythe weapon and shuriken skill.

This looks cool. Are the backgrounds giant pre-rendered images?

Some of them are giant pre-rendered sets, others are created from tiles and dodads.

The main thing about the giant prerenderd backgrounds is that, while they tend to look nice, they take about 1/2 a second to switch rooms. Which is just long enough to be noticeable if you have a lot of them.

So I really only use them for key areas, with the rest being pre-rendered tiles.
