Pretty much what the title says, I've got a few ideas for games that I would like to work with someone on, bounce some ideas off of, all those kinds of things

I'm sort of in this weird position right now where everyone I know who works in this field is also an artist, so now that I'm taking a break from doing contract work and actually working on something I've been wanting to do for awhile now, the whole I-don't-know-any-programmers problem has really become an issue.

If you want to see some of my work you can check out my portfolio here or check out the pixel art thread from time to time, I post there fairly frequently

Oh, and I listed this under unpaid because while I do want to release these games to turn a profit, I'm pretty much unable to pay up front right now (and I think having someone who's willing to help without pay is more useful than someone who only sticks around when you have the money Tongue)

OH ONE LAST THING, my ideas tend to be fairly big and ambitious so
unless you're confident that you can program for someone who will turn a giant pile of unrelated ideas into a large pile of slightly coherent ideas

U Ain't Wanted, Nerd

edit: I forgot to mention, I've got a series of games planned that I would like to have finished up before moving on to any 'true' collaborations where we're both 100% involved in everything about the game

this project is something I've been wanting to finish for years, but I haven't actually felt confident in my skills as a pixel artist until now

hey look here's another thing I forgot!

My goal was to release this on Desura, maybe XBL Indie Arcade, and maybe maybe maybe Steam

ok a couple things : what platform do you want it on? (online, downloadable (OSes?), iphone, whatever), and considered picking up gamemaker and teaching yourself? (a lot of artists have done the same)

but you did mention someone to bounce ideas off, that's cool.

I can do flash games and make music and design awesome shit if you're interested.

Sorry about that!
My goal was to release this on Desura, maybe XBL Indie Arcade, and maybe maybe maybe Steam - I've been hearing lately that they basically give your game no consideration unless it's had a successful run in other places, so

My only problem with releasing this on PC is that I've been designing this around the idea that the player would be using a gamepad to play. While this isn't a HUGE problem, messing with the controls some more so that they work on a keyboard and aren't awkward is just... it's still a problem

And as far as learning GML myself, I've tried. I've tried it several times over the past few years, but I just do not have the attention span or the willpower to work on programming of any sort. It's all kinds of unappealing to me. I'm an idea guy, a design guy, and an art guy. I just can't seem to make myself want to add programming to that list. Shrug

Interesting ... do you not need this for drawing? *Clueless*

have you tried working with actual code instead of a game making engine? I thrive on creativity and I can typically write code better than I can write english, but whenever I try to use a game engine I usually end up coming to the conclusion that murdering those responsible for its creation would be easier, faster, and more satisfying than coaxing the engine into doing what I want it to do, and give up.

No, you do, it's just that an entirely different type of focus is needed for programming as opposed to pixelling

it's an entirely different kind of art and it's just something that's thoroughly unappealing to me. On top of that, I just kinda feel like it's better to have someone who actually enjoys programming take on that job instead of trying to force myself to do something that I Do Not Enjoy

Yeah, I have. It's definitely more enjoyable than using something like Gamemaker, but to be honest it's still just not my thing
