Hi,

my name is Apo and I'm an indie-java-games-developer.

I want to present you one of my games. It's called ApoCommando and is a mixture of platforming and keyboard command-controlled gaming. You control a little guy (at the moment Mario) who must make it to the finish at the end of each level. In order to make it there, you'll have to jump, highjump, duck, fire and switch directions, all while the little guy moves forward on his own. The catch? Instead of tapping keys to command the game, you must actually type "jump", "high", "flip", "fire", "duck", etc. to interact with the game.

Can you solve all the levels? Can you find all the commands? Can you find all the achievements? Try it out!
Do you like the game? Is it too easy or too hard? What can I do to make the game better? Thanks for your feedback!

A dark level. Collect the coins to see where you have to go.

I love it!

Thats such a creative idea.

Something that came straight to mind is using this in Text adventure type games. Although they might of already done something like this.

Worked pretty well.
Didn't like how commands weren't global. (couldn't type any commands anywhere)
tab-complete might help.
got to the maze level and time ran out, didn't have patience to retry.

Thanks for your feedback!

@increpare:
What do you mean with "Didn't like how commands weren't global."?
You mean you have to type 'exit' ingame to get to the menu? I can add the commands 'back' and 'menu' too. Thats a good idea.

Or do you mean that you don't know every command? That part of the game to find them out. Of course there are many more words that you can type in the menu (e.g. 'joke', 'java' etc).

When the game runs you can get your last commands with the up arrow key (dos-style) =)

If you want to restart your last level you have to notice your levelcode or find the hidden command to show all levelcodes. Wink

I really like the idea with the tab complete. Type 2 letters and press tab to complete possible commands. That sounds good.

I tried, for instance, to type the level name while playing a level to restart it.

So new version is online.

Whats new?
- implement suggested improvements
- more hidden words
- more achievements
- new engine in the background to run smoother

I hope you like it.
