Fuck the Dark Knight... I would give an arm and a leg and suck 3 dicks to see "Mask of Phantasm" made into a live action movie.

It was awesome. The only thing I really had a problem with was when the Joker was doing his "IM JUST A MAD DOG WITH NO PLANS" stuff. As if he wouldn't have had to do months of meticulous planning just to plant a single bomb in that hospital?

You can't trust anything the Joker says.

I think that meant on a larger scale, you know like life time scale. maybe.

He said that to Harvey Dent, to push him over the edge. I also liked that all jokers bombs were were gasoline and oil drums, nothing too over the top.

Never thought of that. You're right.

He did say that he had 'simple needs'. I too liked that instead of Joker Gas or whatever to make people laugh to death. You don't really need much to blow shit up. I personally imagined that beneath his chaotic exterior existed a criminal genius. It's the only way he could plan and execute all of his acts, and it's not very farfetched (some insane people also are extremely intelligent, even if for the completely wrong reasons).

Also yeah he basically lies about everything.
Some of you guys may have picked up that the story as to how he got his scars changes depending on the person he is telling it to.

I think that was pretty obvious. I was kind of annoyed that Batman cut short his last attempt at an origin story.

The Batman-y stuff made me giggle with glee. And the Joker was perfectly, terribly insane. Ledger was amazing. (But seriously, fuck that guy. He had a child and he OD'd. I guess I'm not one to glorify celebrity personalities...)
One thing left a bad taste in my mouth, though. Did anyone else catch the 9/11 overtones? The old superheroes were born out of the nuclear age, I suppose, so it makes sense to see modern adaptations play off our current fears, but, uh... we have to survey everyone to catch the bad guy? Civilians are helpless? We need martial law? Someone to save us? Ugh. I probably just don't watch enough TV.
My friend summed it up pretty well: "We don't negotiate with The Joker."

How heroic the ending was portrayed threw me off. I mean, the Joker won, and so Batman gets the idea to lie to everyone and then Gordon makes a speech about it. The ending should have been tragic.

It was tragic for Batman, at least. Doesn't seem very off to me, really. Batman seems to me like the kind of character who does what needs to be done, regardless of what if means to himself. He hardly does it for fame and glory.

I believe that he did it, but it was the mood of the ending, (along with the simplified and unexplored theme of "end justifies the means" of the movie) that threw me off. The speech and the music and everything would have you believe that Batman succeeded in turning Dent back to the good side instead of just covering it up.
