You'd like us to assume that some massive off screen usurping happened and now the Saints have a new Boss, which was never brought up or mentioned?
Hehe, that's how I imagined it. The main char in SRtT is not the same person as the one in SR2, no matter what you guys say. His behavior is completely different. Unless he walked under a pussification ray or something. I ripped the soundtrack from the game if anyone's interested.

SPOILERS
Which is why he assaults a National Guard armory, destroys a sci-fi helicarrier, dives through the windshield of a crashing plane, jumps at a plane with no parachute and then tumbles through the air in a tank found in said plane, massacres luchadores with a chainsaw, and rides a ball all the way down a skyscraper to crush an international crime boss. All of which were his idea. That sounds like the boss from SR2 to me.
I'm not sure if you are trolling or if you are genuinely this ultradense. It's like a neutron star.

You're still not getting it. The new guy has these wacky ideas, but they aren't personal and brutal. He doesn't do these things because someone dared to fuck with him. He does them because, well, the situation is appropriate. Plane coming at you? Diving through the window is better than dying. Need lots of guns, fast? Steal them. Stag declares war? Of course take out the carrier. Chainsaw massacre? It's part of the wrestling show. They're stunts. Publicity stunts. Not authentic bad-assery like the prequel. Contrast this to SR2's boss in, for instance, this scene.

SPOILERS
Pretty sure that invading a skyscraper, massacring everyone inside, and dropping a massive ball on a dude that killed your best friend is both personal AND brutal. So is, for example, beating the shit out of Eddie Pryor, ripping off his mask, then chasing him down, shooting his plane apart with rockets, and beating him to death with your bare fists. You also get personal with Kia in the good ending (but not her commander in the bad ending, strangely enough).
Oh and then there's the whole fact that the entire game is based around the fact that Johnny Gat was murdered and the Boss is so apocalyptically pissed that he is taking out anyone and everyone that stands in his way.
Basically, you're dumb, stop talking.

Just hit 100%, despite not actually having 100%. Still missing the vehicle thefts, challenges, and, uh, I think they're called stongholds? The ones where you get a phone call and have to defend. I guess those things don't count. I'd like to write more about it, but for the first time in a LOOOOOOONG time I feel that the reviews about it are mostly on the mark.
Great game, glad I bought it, can't wait for the DLC so I can go back to it.

Except crushing the guy was a happy accident, not on purpose; The boss was just trying to get down fast. Killing henchmen by the dozens I don't think counts, that's just the combat basics of the game. Oh and then there's the whole fact that the entire game is based around the fact that Johnny Gat was murdered and the Boss is so apocalyptically pissed that he is taking out anyone and everyone that stands in his way.
Did we even play the same game? Shaundi was apocalyptically pissed. The boss had not the slightest display of emotion. I don't think he referenced Gat in dialogue once in the whole game. Just watch. The boss' first thought after being taunted by those responsible that Johnny is dead is "We'll need a car. Where are we anyway?". SR2's boss would've been like "Listen you french piece of shit, I'm going to fucking kill you.". You're taking over the city because it's what you do, not because of vengeance.

no uh you take over the city because you want to take down the syndicate, the thing that loren was the head of
you kill loren and the boss gets it pounded into his head that it's not over just because he killed loren. so the game at that point becomes "lets take down the rest of them to avenge johnny"
and then it kind of changes to a whole thing between killbane and the boss around halfway through

also did you just ignore every line of dialogue, like where the boss says multiple times throughout the course of the game that what he's doing is for johnny
whatever. you are a dense idiot. no point in discussing this with you when you are this stupid.

Picked up the game and was genuinely pleased with it. Took me about 40 hours to 100% the game (trophy wise), but I was dicking around a lot too, so you could probably do it in less. While there's no real replay value once you've done 100% of everything, the time I spent was well worth it. Going into spoilers and summing up the whole game ahead so;
From the start when you jump off an airplane and free fall, meeting Zimos and and being chased by gimps in carts (who explode like vehicles when shot). Going into the zanny Tron level with the megabuster, to the awesome Luchadore fight with Killbane. Through the zombie invasion and Mayor Burt Reynolds, and ending with the Gangsters In Space mission.
The game left a truly awesome taste in my mouth that I wish could have lasted longer.

Probably because your memory is shit. There's lines, both in the main story and as throwaway comment lines, that reference Johnny Gat.
I'm not gonna go find them for you because that's overestimating the amount of fucks i give about your incredibly wrong bullshit pedantic assertions. I care just enough to let you know you're being stupid, but not enough to play through the entire main story again just to prove how much of a nitwit you are.

Granted I don't agree with Dragonmaw's aggressive attacks, I do agree with what he's saying. There were multiple instances of the protagonist continuing on for the sake of Gat's memory. At the very least to shut Shaundi up who is even more vocal about it.
Like Dragonmaw said, I don't really care to look for them, but I'll see what I can do in the course of five minutes.

It's really good. aI'm at about 20 hours and have finished all of the map-marked stuff (activities, collection, stores, etc) and part of the freeform stuff. The main missions can be breezed through in about 9 hours or so, but that's if you ignore everything else.
