Yeah, I figured it would be better. I'm just hesitant to use it because Flixel doesn't have any built in Z-level ordering- for example, you can't draw a sprite behind another sprite when you're higher up and in front of it when you're lower down, unless you want to completely rewrite Flixel's rendering (which I'm not planning on doing). So I don't know how I should treat that sort of collision :/

I've decided the competition traffic we have here is directly proportional to how long it's been since Spelunky became famous.

Well, the theme let me solidify an idea I had on Friday with a setting, so I think I'ma do this. Maybe start a devlog in the next couple days?

Here's a story idea for some of you who would like to enter but have no idea what to make:
The planet is going to explode in 24 hours. Everyone was evacuated to a nearby planet... except you, an 8 year old boy, scared, and left alone with his doggy. Find a way to get off of the planet.

Yea cool. I think I´m in. I know this question does not count much but: is there something to win? I mean beside endless fame?
best, Jot

The winner gets to share a bunker with Derek Yu, wait out the apocalypse and then repopulate the world with indies.

This is what you get when your school buys bootleg biology textbooks

Well, I probably won't finish my entry in time. I like where I'm going with it and I want to take my time doing it- after I finish Mining Game, that is.

I probably won't finish in time either, but I am definitely developing it further.

Feeling the same way... It was dangerous to start this with a newly developed tool set. The tools are getting more attention than the game, but I will see this game through. I think it has a lot of potential. I'll hopefully have something more substantial to share before the end of the week.

Finished watching Future Boy Conan - so good. Miyazaki's series prior to Ghibli, depicting earth after the apocalypse [2008]. Really interesting to read into Miyazaki. Update: Just a screenee, started on the assets: story is shaping up and rounding out - too many things I want to throw in terms of game play. but world building is the basis. I have this problem of just staring blankly at my screen every other tile or sprite I create. slow slow slow.

May be doing a very late entry to this. Something nice and simple, a hacky/slashy/shooty thing with a post apocalyptic setting. If I still plan on doing this I guess I'll update tomorrow. EDIT: Nah it's not happening. Too busy/too much Skyrim.
