UPDATE: RESULTS: http://www.tigsource.com/2012/01/12/top-indie-games-of-2011-according-to-the-tigsource-forums/* please vote for your favorite indie games which were *released* in 2011. i did this last year; super meat boy got the most votes: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=16601.0 -- i also made a post about it on the frontpage back then format: name any amount of games you want, you can number them if you want from 1. to 10. etc. (but you can name less or more than 10 if you wish), each unique mention of a game by each unique person will count for one point here's my favorites of the year 1. spacechem 2. bastion 3. don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story 4. the binding of isaac 5. escape from puppy death factory 6. jamestown 7. scoregasm 8. pragmatica 9. voxatron 10. hot throttle (there are numerous other games which i didn't get the chance to play but think i'd like if i had, like insanely twisted shadow planet, terraria, night sky, etc. -- this was a bad game for me and indie games since i didn't play anywhere near as many of them as i wanted to) anyway please let us know what your favorite indie games of the year were!

I apologize but my tastes are vaguely eclectic and this causes me to be unable to rank them in any particular order. As such, here are the 10 best indie games of 2011, in the order in which I thought of writing them down. All of them are excellent.
avadon terraria gemini rue really big sky trauma blocks that matter hegemony gold space pirates and zombies spacechem murder dog iv
EDIT: also Balloon Diaspora

Serious Sam 3: BFE Jamestown Frozen Synapse Gemini Rue SpaceChem Hard Reset
Can't think of many other (finished) ones that have done too much for me this year, feel like I'm forgetting something though. I also haven't played all of the most prominent "indie" games released this year yet (e.g. English Country Tune.) Might edit my post later if/when I do.

i think betas are fine, as long as a version of them was made publicly available in 2011 and was not available before this year (otherwise people would just vote for games like dwarf fortress as a 2011 game)

There were probably a few little freeware things that I played a bit of here and there but the only new game that stuck in my mind this year was Dredmor so there's your game of the year. I didn't even buy Voxatron or Bastion even though those are my kind of thing so it's been a pretty thin year as I see it.

What I have high hopes for but haven't put enough time into:
- Murder Dog IV Pretty sure you'll be able to find time for this! I think you can see virtually all its content in an hour or so.

Escape from Puppy Death Factory was pretty sweet.
I really dug Re-birth by Guert.
I've missed so much in recent times though. No real chances at even remotely catching up at this point.

I haven't the slightest idea, but I know Bastion's pretty high on my list.

Frankly, it's been a pretty slow year for me... I can't remember a lot of indie games that I particularly liked recently. "To The Moon" is probably my favorite of this year.
