also just watch any episode of Adventure Time. you will end up with tons of Boss words for any gnarley situations your sweet player might get into with his choice moves.

I've enjoyed SPP a lot, and I like the concept of developing it into a 1v1 puzzle game.

Will the deluxe version have online or on the same computer multiplaying?

The way I've been heading it's going to have online highscores with local multiplayer. It is compatible with xbox controllers which is by far the best way to play it multiplayer.

Devlog 03

Jetpacks!

The jetpack works by replacing the jump. You can only use it for a few seconds at a time (until it turns red) then you must wait on the ground for it to recharge). Your ground speed is also significantly reduced.

Here's some .gifs of it (sorry the .gif wrecked the gradients...)

It's raining!

Close call...

Notice the new layout as well. I've probably spent too much time laying out the ui and then deleting most of what I've done.

backgrounds and ui are the next thing i'm going to try to focus on.

Every game needs a jetpack  Smiley

Looking really great and I like the balance you've added with the jetpack of being unable to jump and have slower walking speed. Think it'll work really well.

This is fucking incredible. It has a very Pixel'esque style, with the slick tiles and the flat character. Love the font for the hud. Keep it up!

Cool Ranch to be specific. If you want the regular flavour you'll have to buy the dlc.

The jetpack seems like a great new addition, it fits the gameplay much better than the old jump mechanic.

This looks awesome! The original SPP was one of my favorite high score based games, can't wait to play this one.

Hrm. I'm not sure I like the gradient on the lava, it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the crisp pixels.
Maybe try toning it down a little, or replacing it with a dither?

Just visiting to say thank you for the original and looking forward to playing the new version. It looks fabulous already!
I do wonder if it will be harder than the original though. Some people found it too easy but for me it was just right.

I've avoided gradients most of my life and now I'm acting out like some muzzled adolescent discovering sex for the first time. Gradients everywhere!... I may tone it down we'll see.

You're welcome! and Thanks. I've heard the first was too hard but I rarely hear it was too easy. I think you'll find a little bit of both difficulties in this one, but expect to mostly suffer.  Cheesy

Devlog 04

It's been mostly menus and backgrounds since we last talked. Here's an example of one of the backgrounds:

and since the colors are a bit messed up in the gif, have a png:

hmmm, part of me kinda likes the .gif color fuck more... HMMMM

Each background is pretty different so far, but most use the mode7 effect in one way or another. Because mode7 is the greatest.

My favourite so far which I'm not showing until it's done is essentially the time vortex from Doctor Who.
