I'm skipping this bundle. I still haven't played Frozen Synapse and I don't even know what Shadowgrounds is about and it's still on my desktop. Gotta finish these games before I get more.

I think I've reached a point where I'm bundled out, in fact. I think I'll just stick to playing games I like, or are specifically recommended. The model where I play whatever is cheapest isn't quite working for me.

So what's the theme of this bundle, really? "A bit of everything"?

The theme of this bundle is to dissuade people from buying any Indie game new, because it will be in a bundle in a few weeks.

That is a point worthy of some thought. I like the bundles, but that attraction comes from my wallet and laziness. However, I can see that this might become an important mode of indie game distribution (it already is), and in a way that might conceivably be a threat to indies: get on a bundle or you won't sell since nobody will buy because it will be in a bundle for less money soon anyway.

Speculations and musings:
The bundlers seems to grow in power versus the indie developers, and this seems eerily reminiscent of what being an indie is against (bowing to the whims and taxes of Steam/iTunes (though this is perhaps the norm today), or even being an indentured developer to a producer that controls the capital). While the Bundle initially might not have thought in those terms--perhaps they even intended to return power and money to the developers--any successful business model will turn from initial ideals and toward maximising revenues and securing supplies by exerting control.

Unless it is just a fad and everyone, like Niko, will be bundled out...

you neglect the fact that one great thing that the Humble Bundle is doing is making the games o.s.-agnostic. some games in the bundles already have mac/lin/win builds (or more commonly windows/mac) but many do not until they hit the bundle.

and any reason for developers of bigger indie games to make their games for multiple operating systems is a good reason, if you ask me.

I'd be interested in jamestown, BTR and GSB, but I can't get myeself to buy any bundle. That's because I'm a bit OCD and I can't get myself to get games that I won't play, even for free. I also don't like the limited time aspect. I like to take my time to optimize my buying. That's why I miss all of the bundles, sometimes I'm interested, but I don't like to be rushed when I'm the buyer.

Also : I have this huge stash on my desk, made of about 20 CD-roms from game magazines with 1+years old AAA PC games that I still have to play. And that other stash in my drawer made of budget games (AAA games turn "budget" after 6 months) that I buy every time I go to the capital city (make that another 20 games).
Some of these games have been sitting there for 5 years.
But I don't actually play games anymore because most of my computer time is used by internet, playing indie game prototypes, pretending to devellop games myself, and myroad other stuff such .
So what's the point anymore huh? Wizard

Must resist helping them devalue indie games.

...But the games are so good.

I always got the impression that Cliffski was against sales and bundles. He's always so vocal about charging a decent amount for the work he puts into his games and how Steam sales devalue indie games as a whole. I guess when someone wafts a big wad of cash under your nose it's hard to stick to your personal values. Not criticising him, as I'd do exactly the same.

It's actually more nuanced than that.
My beef is when people make a new indie game, claim it's super high qwuality and polished, and then they sell it in a bundle 10 minutes later and earn a pittance per copy.

Gratuitous Space Battles was released in september 2009
That't voer 2 years ago now. Admittidly, it got 57 updates and patches since then, but it's still a game that has been around for two years.

Everything is discounted over time, which makes business sense in most cases. people who see their primary means of income for indie gaming as a pay-what-you-want sale... I just don't share that as a business strategy.

So that's what I think :D

So I'm curious, how does it happen.
If someone doesn't pay over the average, cliffski doesn't get paid?
