Come on, red hood tales is as goth as you can already Tongue
/joke

That dev don't have the attitude is debatable (mc namara, david cage), hardcore gamer do have that. About painting you have miss that other debate with caruso about modernist in that very thread, also happen all the time in art circle (does cezanne is truly worthy and not hidden his lack of skills behind bullshit), but that happen in all circle.

BTW I mostly argue for diversity and "what Tot is" is more a new perspective, it's already more important than their content. It's like fumito ueda, praise because they have different sensibilities in a culture which is frankly homogenous and monogamous.

Art was only tangential (I didn't start the is this art fart) and more a concern to people who don't want to validate these work. Notice I tend to pick more the need to expend the "language" of the medium and use art history to illustrate that point (because that's where media expressive evolution are get).

Not to revive the thread but this sum up why this kind of thread devolve quickly into trench war:

I'm a formalist with a "life" envy
David caruso is a classicist
Derek would be balance with a bias for animist ( ? )
Tot is iconoclast

Mainstream globally hold high classicist/mild formalist value with animist envy
while indie hold high animist/high iconoclast with peak for extreme formalism and retro classicism

@Paul eres
Yeah but there will be no discussion for people to reinforce, extend, change their perspective or understanding of others ...
THis graph is a graph of POV and value, not what how art is or should be make.

I'm  way more on formalist side (focus on structure) but it does not mean I don't bother other part of axis, they are not just my focus. I would like to be more into animist or iconoclast but content (LIFE as in something to say) is not my big point, I tend to undervalue classicist though.

I think 1982 is more in the life side while I picture you more balance with a bias on the "art" side (for art sake, not for message), balanced between formalism and classicism but with bias toward tradition. You don't seem to be drive by making a statement about the world too much as to recreate experience from past game or personal fantasy world. Ultimately seeking "good" in game is was bias you toward tradition as you don't seek to reinvent the wheel, discover totally new form or uncover the "truth of game making" (which mean you are content with whatever get the job done).
