Exactly like the title states... What would you change about the following series? How would you like to see them changed and why would those changes make them better games?

1) Sonic The Hedgehog
2) Donkey Kong
3) Kirby (traditional suck-shit-up Kirby)
4) Megaman

For example:

Does an open-world Megaman sound cool? Want Kirby to suck up 3+ enemies and combine them with some sort of crafting system? Would Sonic be more playable to some on single screen levels like Super Meat Boy?

Make them all 3D raytraced MMO's where you can grow farms and make mafia affiliations.

1) Sonic always kinds bugged me.  Playing the game usually involved just holding right...until all of a sudden he would get spat out a into spikes or a pit or something.  And platforming when he was slow always sucked.  Sonic should be fast, but I don't know how to maintain control.  I never found any chaos emeralds.

2)Didn't play the 2d ones ('cept, ya know, the first).  The Rare N64 one was almost a carbon copy of Rare's other games, with the rediculous amount of collecting.  I was collecting Pokemon cards when that came out, I didn't need to do it again...

3)I am a die-hard Kirby fan  Tongue .  I would like to see a return of the multi-dimmensional powers (the mixing of two) from the N64 one.  I wish the earlier games did a better job of conveying if I found everything.

4) I always found Megaman really hard, and didn't play it that much.

Sonic - what xrabohrok said exactly. Was never fun to me. Playing was always a terrible time. Tried to like, never could. Fucking spikes and walls and shit as soon as I get up to speed. Fucking jumping in directions other than up. Fucking awkward ass low-speed platforming.

Donkey Kong - I like the original. The countries, I could never get past the hideous prerendered graphics. Also, felt like remarkably generic platformers. Though I never really managed to get more than two or three levels in. DK64 was mad awesome, though.

Kirby - I can't really think of anything I dislike about Kirby.

Megaman - Maybe I just don't like blue characters. Aside from not liking the megaman's actual character design I can't think of much I dislike about the actual games, just never managed to get into them.

What I'd change about Sonic:
make it Uniracers with combat and scenery. (keep the tricks)

What I'd change about DK:
Make DK64 2, except yeah maybe with less collecting.

What I'd change about Kirby:
Set it in a huge, open, persistent world, where characters give you quests and you can join/do missions for different factions. Combine up to two powers at a time. Bring back the animal companions from dreamland 3.

What I'd change about Megaman:
Iunno.

all four of those are good series, i wouldn't change anything, except, that in mega man, i'd remove those stupid puzzles with the invisible blocks that appear and reappear; those are memorization based and not too fun

Sonic Series:
Stop doing stupid stuff and trying to innovate.  Just stick with the cool stuff that worked in the past.  Also, expand Sonic Fighters.

DK Series:
Throw more barrels and kidnap more princesses.

Kirby:
Make another game like Kirby All-Stars that was a collection of a lot of great, shorter games.

Megaman:
Stop with the futuristic anime digimon stories, keep being a robot fighting other robots.

Play sonic rush Who, Me?
I don't like them but I like classic sonic (2-3K is best)
Pit of death happen with sonic advance onward.

1) free roaming 3D world based on momentum puzzle and no death pit. Give the design to nintendo, seriously, they will fuck up the universe and story but hey sega did it already, at this point good interesting gameplay is what matter.

All)
Just put a free roaming open world with tight pace while keeping core mechanics and interaction intact  Giggle

Sonic:
As others have said, Sonic is almost like a racing game to me. As in, hold down one button then occasionally tweak it with another button. It's brainless and boring, in my opinion. I personally think Sonic is beyond repair. I really can't stand this one. Music's great, though.

Also, they got waaaaay too crazy with characters in the more modern games.

Donkey Kong:
I've only played the Donkey Kong arcade game, the first Country, and the Wii re-imagining. The arcade game is quite good and I wouldn't change it. I wasn't a huge fan of the first Country game. I think the graphics, although I'm sure they were cool at the time, tend to turn me away these days. Also, I remember there being one really insanely hard level in the oil world or something that took me like months to get past. Then again, I was just a kid, so maybe it isn't as hard as I thought it was back then.

Donkey Kong Country Returns is pretty flawless, and executed quite well. The boss in the third or fourth world, I don't remember which, was horrible, but the rest of the game (so far!) is really fun and cool.

Kirby:
This might sound weird, but I think Kirby games need to get even goofier and more cartoon-like than they already are. I think they've been getting more and more serious, and I think they should step back and let loose a little. That said, I haven't played the newest ones, so they could have improved on this. Combo powerups do sound cool. I've never really felt that the level designs in Kirby games were that great. None of them felt that hard or special to me; they weren't memorable. I think they should put a little more effort there.

Megaman:
As Paul said, remove those stupid stupid STUPID disappearing blocks. They only provide artificial difficulty and are never fun, interesting, or entirely original.

ah I forgot about this one, I only played it once very briefly but it was pretty fun. Much much better than my memories of the gross old DKCs.

Sonic is a tough one for sure. I fully enjoy both Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 (& Knuckles), but since then...it's been mehh for me.

I feel like momentum-based platforming and puzzles would do it justice. I originally liked the single screen idea, but it would be fine either way without the pitfalls.

sonic:

more air control

DK (I'm gonna say DKC for this one):

Less cheap deaths.

Kirby :

Basically perfect for what it is. A really easy platformer that your signifigant non-gaming partner will love.

Megaman:

Either save points or they need to make sure that right before the boss there isn't a cheap spike death. I don't like having to make it repeatedly though a level I know by heart to figure our the exact timing of a jump puzzel right before the boss door.

1) Sonic The Hedgehog - Wasnt a fan of 1 or 2 but 3 and Sonic & Knuckles (with its "dock on" feature) was awesome, not to mention being one of the first games you could SAVE your progress! Music was great, varied level design (from snowboarding, to stages crumbling around you and underwater labyrinths) and boss fights scaled epically... Also the story of Knuckles was quite good and touching, which they could have worked on a bit more I guess...

2) Donkey Kong - Unfortunately didnt have this system growing up but its graphics seemed amazing! Also loved the fact that there seemed to actually be a story behind the scenes...

3) Kirby - Incredibly fun tho I found it was a bit repetitive at times, many stages felt similar but they all did fit the "cute" theme. The feature where you could combine the things you ate into a "super move" of sorts was very entertaining!

4) Megaman - This series was far to challenging for me back in the day, dont think I was ever able to complete any of them but its platforming was very good.

Disclaimer: I will say what I think they should add to the current series' direction, not to already-out games.

1) Sonic
sonic needs a PROPER DESIGNER. And needs to shake off from fans, as all Sega was able to do was to painfully deal a slow return to a verbatim copy of Sonic 2.
They always try to slam something new in, but it is invariably meh and everyone will rage about it. They really need to make a clean game that is not divided in countless random parts to try to not unleash the haters.
They have to make a single sonic that is both original AND good AND "sonic", and I don't think that Sega can pull this off at all.

Down to practical ideas:
-Most important: gameplay at low and high speed should be different and the transition not linear; please get rid of the current half-assed physics-but-not-physics.. that will for sure upset die-hard fans (or haters?) but is OLD.
-at low speed you should be able to control Sonic just like mario, without too much physics kicking in, and long, low and controlled jumps. No floating PLS.
-at high speed Sonic should be basically physics-driven, having puzzles revolving on being able to get there without being hurt and being as stylish as possible. You can bounce from the current surface and brake, curl and uncurl.
-Even if the platforming was slow and awkward, it always was the "meat" of the game, with "speed" being either eyecandy or a reward. Acrobatics and speed management should be part of the game and not eyecandy, eg - acquiring enough speed for a loop is the only way to not die in the lava.
-2D is good for speed, 3D is not.
-Sonic was Canabalt before Canabalt was Canabalt. I urge Sega to notice that.

2) DKC
just leave it to Retro. They are good.

3) Kirby
I like that there's currently an "experimental kirby saga" (Epic Yarn, Canvas Course, Mass Attack...) and a "traditional platformer saga". Experimental kirbys are invariably awesome, traditional ones tough feel a little like if not enough creativity pours down to them.
Please make crazier level, crazier mechanics... but not by much Smiley
Also, I HATE POWER COMBOS PLEASE DON'T. They kill the pace completely and feel gimmicky.

4) Megaman
never played  Durr...?
