Master Brain from 8-bit Killer. I don't have any reference pics, but I remember he was the main villain of the game.

So that's the real Master Brain.

In that case, should it be the real Master Brain, or the gladiator guy?

For a character the Gladiator, I don't see a lot of moves for the brain. Well, without going outside the game.

Perhaps Master Brain as a boss, and Fake Master Brain as a character.

Alternatively, the guy in the cloak who's name escapes me, or the player character who's name escapes me.

8Bit Killer is cool. None of the characters are all that iconic, though. He might make a good support character, but we already have a lot of those...

I always thought of Fake Master Brain as a pretty iconic character.

I had another idea. Jetz from the Jetz series.

This is the only video I've been able to find of it, and it's not a very good video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlx5PEtjlTE

Reposted from my post for him I made before I learned how submissions work:

Hello! I'm Durza, and this is my character suggestion. I've been lurking around here for a while, but when I decided to play some of one of my favourite games - The Flowering Nose in Slugland - it came to me that the Nose would make a pretty good character for Indie Brawl. The creator of the game passed away a couple of years ago, and I suppose that including the Nose would be a good tribute to him. We could get permission from his family or something. Anyway:

The Flowering Nose

Portrait -

Sprites -
Idle -
Walking -
Jumping -
Hurt -
Punch -
Flower -
Teleportal -
Pickaxe -
Golden Llama -
Slug Ride -
Present -
Gardening -

Stats - The Nose is pretty average in terms of strength, speed, and weight. His main plus is his special attacks, which often have good range and give him advantages. Many of the Nose's attacks depend on holding the buttons.

Move List:
A - Punch. The Nose attacks with a short-range forward punch.
>A - Flower. The Nose tosses a flower out in an arc in front of him, damaging whoever it hits. The attack button can be held down for better range.
^A - Present. The Nose throws a present on the ground in a short range. It does some damage to whoever it hits, and then opens up to reveal a random vegetable. All the vegetables can be picked up and eaten for a small health increase (only change between them is cosmetic).
vA - Pickaxe. The Nose swings a pickaxe in front of him in a short arc for moderate damage.
S - Golden Llama. The Nose holds up a golden llama idol in front of him for as long as the button is held down. Characters that come in front of the Nose when he's holding the idol are slowed down and might even be dealt damage. If the Nose is attacked, he puts the llama away.
>S - Slug Ride. A slug comes from the side of the screen and the Nose jumps on it, then rides it across the screen. Anyone in the slug's path is damaged, and the Nose can jump off the slug at any time. If the level has walls, the Nose automatically jumps off when the slug hits the wall, but if it doesn't, he can drive the slug off platforms!
^S - Teleportal. A few pyramids rise out of the ground in a square, with a portal in the middle. Whoever jumps into the portal, be it the Nose or an opponent, is removed from the game for a bit, then appears at a random point in the level some seconds later. The teleportal then disappears.
vS - Gardening. The Nose takes a trowel and digs in the ground, causing a plant to sprout up. Whoever is standing over the plant is raised up on it as a temporary platform. The plant then sprouts vegetables, which fall and damage anyone in their way.

So, tell me what you think of my first contribution! This will all make sense if you play the game, but I'll warn you that it's quite the timesink.  Wink

Also, the Nose might not work as a character because he doesn't have many attacks in his original game, but I thought I'd see what you think and at least try to get some Nose stuff into the game.

Never heard of this game before. I'll have to check it out once I have time.

2 immediate warning signs, though, are that the game isn't on the TigDB (which doesn't necessarily mean anything, since the TigDB is somewhat incomplete, but it could indicate that it may not be as familiar to the audience we're shooting for), and the character is nonviolent (so the movelist seems somewhat forced).

My initial assumptions could be wrong, though. Like I said, I haven't played the game, yet.

All right. I've played the game, and I don't think the Flowering Nose will work for Indie Brawl. There's not much material to build a full move list around, and the game does not seem to be such an indie staple that it must be included. That's my take on it, at least.

I just heard about this project thing today, and I must say I am quite intrigued. Anyway, would it be at all possible to include the main character of Gravity Bone as a playable character? I haven't really put a lot of thought into it yet, so I'm not entirely sure how the moveset would work, but it would likely include the few weapons that are in the game.
If adding him as a character wouldn't work, it would be nice to see an exploding bird as an item (I would have posted that suggestion in the item thread, but it seemed less stupid to keep it all in one post).

The character does not work for a number of reasons:
-You never even see the character.
-The character never fights.
-There is very, very little to base a move list on.

While it would have been nice to get the Nose as a playable character, I never intended that to be the only way for him. I only wanted to see what you guys think, so we could get something related to the Nose in if possible.  Grin

Whilst we're on Future Heroes, U-Head. U-Head would be boss. Assuming U-Head is the fighting type. Ptoing?

Ahh, I never seen that U-Head was mentioned here Shocked

In case you duders want to include more Heroes I would have nothing against U-Head being included. And as far as him being the fighting type goes, I'd say he is out to kick butt!

also on a sidenote, the future of U-Head looks a bit brighter again atm \o/

Assassin Blue and the main character from Ark 22 should be chars, and JTR's Death Worm should be somewhere in the game.

Ark 22 and Assassin Blue are good suggestions, though. Which reminds me, I need to play the latter.

We've got a list of permissions there. I should really get onto looking for permission for Madotsuki though...

I'm not quite sure where to put this, so I'll put this here:

I took a stab at making a portrait for random:

Comments/edits welcomed!

Edit: I noticed in my original that the dice covered up too much, so I tried a simple edit:
