I don't know if the dice really works - it doesn't intuitively represent random, and people might think they are actually selecting some kind of grey dice character. A question mark, though generic, would probably be a better symbol to use.

My original thought was to have both a dice and a question mark, but I quickly decided that would be too busy. Here is a possible version with a question mark: and since it's a new page, I'll just post the dice here as reference:

Is it too late for Tela? Irregardless, I've zealously made a tentative move list for him. According to TigDB his game Guardian of Paradise is one of the top ten downloaded so notoriety shouldn't be an issue.
Tela is not exceptionally strong or fast. However, he's very versatile, and his main strength comes from being able to inflict status ailments on his opponents by using his spirit companions. [btw i tried to remember all of the names of the spirits but I forgot the name of the grass spirit (water spirit is Mizuchi, wind spirit is Kirin, flame spirit is Leo, and dark spirit is Yomi)]
A - Slash. A weak slash of Tela's sword with almost no knockback.
A> - ?
A^ - Overhead Slash. Contrary to what you might think, this attack does not actually project enemies into the air like Nikujin's Upwards slash. It's more like Tela is trying to swat flies above him with his sword. Useful for punishing opponents who try to jump on him. Probably his most useful aerial attack.
Av - Forest Spirit/Stamp. Tela throws the Forest Spirit at his opponents. Once thrown, it can be picked up by other players for a short while before it disappears and Tela can use it again. Be careful, it's heavier than it looks!
S - Sea Spirit/Rain Bullet. Tela grabs Mizuchi from under his cape (the best place for an adventurer to keep any ancient spirit!) and uses him like a water gun, shooting out water pellets that can be charged to become more powerful. If the status ailment is succesful the opponent will turn a shade of blue and start moving slower gradually until he freezes altogether. Only fully charged water bullets will cause the status ailment.
S> - Dark Spirit/Mad Dash. Tela dashes straight through his opponent with a dark aura protecting him. If the status ailment is succesful, the opponent will turn a shade a purple and gradually lose HP for a short period of time after the initial attack (basically like poison).
S^ - Sky Spirit/Crescent Wind. Tela slashes his opponent with the wind tiara in an uppercut like fashion that projects the opponent into the air.
Sv - Flame Spirit/High Fire. Tela breathes fire at the enemy. If the status ailment is succesful, the opponent will turn a shade of red and he will be unable to stop moving entirely.
I tried to make a sprite before but I'm suffering a severe case of artist's block as of late. If the idea's not rejected I'll try my hand at one soon.

To repeat what I posted in the other thread, I don't think it's a bad suggestion. The character's probably a little too obscure, though, and if we use one of Hashimoto's characters, it should probably be Akuji.

One advantage that Tela has over Akuji is that he has more moves for us to work with. A disadvantage is that Tela's visual design is fairly generic and imo ugly, whereas Akuji looks pretty unique.

Not really, he only has three (bat, fireball, cloud). At a stretch you could separate small fireballs and charged fireballs into separate moves. Of course we can create new moves for him, but it's nicer to have at least the majority of attacks coming directly from the source material.

Ark 22 and Assassin Blue are good suggestions, though. Which reminds me, I need to play the latter.
A few others and I have been making a game pretty much exactly the same as IB, except with Game Maker characters only, and we've already got Blue in the game. He's only uses his sword though, so he's just a close-combat sort of character, but he still works perfectly fine. I'd definetly recommend adding him in.

Btw, about Cabadath, what's the reason for not including him? It's because there's already a character by Yahtzee? I think IB's roster really needs some badass-type character, and he would fit into the role pretty nicely, plus he is also really popular. If there's a chance of later making him into a full fledged character, I'm willing to do the major part of the sprite work.

We had that big ranking thread and Cabadath did not come out very high. The main reasons were that he doesn't have much material for a movelist and that he is (sort of) from the same series as Trilby. However, he might still be included as a playable character in the future.

Looking back at that thread, there were lots of people that did want Cabadath as a charicter. I call shenanigans!

Like the attacks act differently when you're dashing, you jump further, bat latches on and sucks blood rather than recovering, fireball becomes more powerful, cloud... I dunno, man I just really like Akuji

Which characters would you remove from the roster to make room for Cabadath and Akuji?

I dunno. Looking over the roster I don't really see any characters whose inclusion I disagree with. I don't really care about Cabadath getting in. Eh, whate'er. I mean if it's that big a problem I guess he can be support. :pout:

After we finish with the current group of characters, we can always add Akuji and friends. I'm not comfortable with a huge roster right now, though, given the slow pace of the character animations.

Since when do we have a limited roster size? Just because we won't make him in the next milestone doesn't mean that we can't make him eventually. If we make him a support character now, we can't make him a real character later. And he has great potential as a character. After we finish with the current group of characters, we can always add Akuji and friends.
Exactly my point.

Since when do we have a limited roster size? We need to have priorities. Until all the characters on the roster are finished, we shouldn't start working on new ones. If we make him a support character now, we can't make him a real character later. Um, yes we can?

I had taken 'characters on the roster' and 'characters were working on' to mean two different things. Um, yes we can?
Shut up.
