Just wonder what games you might have played where the UI didn't get in the way or annoying but instead tied in with the game really well and was fun to use?
I think Bethesda did a really cool job with both Skyrim and Fallout 3 in how their menus worked but that's about all I can think of for good examples.

I thought Dead Space's was pretty cool, since the whole thing is represented by objects that actually exist within the game world.

it's clunky by modern standards, but i've always loved the UI of ultima underworld

it looks cool and really matches (and to some extent sets) the mood of the game. i sort of miss UIs like that, almost every modern game seems to use the same boring "minimalistic" design.

I just picked up Fractal: Make Blooms Not War and love its interface.

It's very clean and well-placed.

That said, it isn't revolutionary or anything, it just looks nice.

The UI in BF3 is awesome, there are a few issues but overall I like the look and the layout.

I think the Inventory is nice in Infinity blade & Infinity blade II. its super clean and gives you simple stats. Also I like the idea of symbols over words. instead of saying magic thy use a picture of that burst.

Skyrim and Fallout 3
skyrim has an awful UI, i find. and a lot of other people heh. there is a mod out there which overhauls it and makes it very good indeed. I think oblivion's was handled much better. Minimalistic isn't a great idea for rpgs, since what you want are LISTS AND NUMBERS.

Fallout 3's was fantastic, though. Some complain about it but i loved it. It fit the game so well and was just... ugh man i'm just gushing.

can't think of more examples though. i'll give it some though.

yeah skyrim's interface is kind of clunky. also a bit weird that it uses the "fallout" font (not a typography geek so idk what it's actually called).

I thought Deus Ex's UI was very clean and functional. And the click sound was awesome. KCCHRR

Also, second for Fallout 3. Loved the style and I don't remember being frustrated by it, so it worked.

Any Valve game ever. The only company who makes responsive UIs. All other games in comparison feel slow, sticky, laggy and clunky.
