Merry Christmas, TIGers! Let me introduce you my latest finished game, The Bless of Christmas!

ABOUT THE GAME:
The Bless of Christmas is a little freeware shooter game, where your mission is to restore the true meaning of Christmas. Nowadays, Christmas has become too materialized, and thus everyone only thinks about presents. Therefore, the man behind this "presentism", Santa Claus, must die. Santa refuses to die, so he has sent an infinite army of elves against you. How long can you survive and can you make it to the global TOP50-list?

The speciality of this game is it's randomity. Each time the game is different: the terrain is randomly generated and the enemies will appear in inconstant patterns. Sometimes it's snowing, and sometimes it isn't. You can't predict what kind of a level is coming next. It's also possible to change the controls and background music of the game. If the standard music does not please you, you can copy your mp3s to the designated user tracks-folder.

Woohoo! 5th place!
I reached the level with santa.
I think you should have "automatic" attack for the basic weapon. It's really exhausting to have to press a key for every buller you shoot. It's mostly important for the basic, non power up weapon. I don't suggest to increase it's power rate, just make it shoot automatically for holding down the key.
In the level with santa, I really don't know how to evade the bombs, it got too messy for me to handle. Maybe you have tips how to finish the santa level(if it's the last).

Thanks for the feedback!  Smiley

Hmm, you got a point there with the auto-fire. However, I wanted this game to have a sort of a old-school arcade button-mashing feeling, but I could make that you can hold down the shoot key. Maybe I'll make both: you can hold down the key, but in order to shoot in really fast pace, you must mash the button.

The santa level can be a bit tricky, but actually the game is endless :D There are new enemy types until level 8. Grin The santa's bombs can indeed be a bit hard to detect especially when the sky is very dark. I think I'll add a white outline to the bomb sprites in the next update.

Its fun! it definitely has the engagement factor, it feels decently fair and rewarding.

Here are some thoughts:

*The main mechanic of the game is jumping/evading (shooting is just mashing since powerups are time-based). With that in mind, I think the bullets of the machine-gun elves could be slower, even if they dealt a little bit more damage, one could at least feel the possibility of jumping evading them, whereas right now it hits almost every-time (at least for me)

*The next step, graphically wise, could be improving the background a little bit; the lines give a fun fake parallax feeling, but those mountains, with only their edges lit and shadowed, look quite flat.

*Perhaps also changing the colour of the sky every level? You could throw in a quick subtle gradient to give it, again, more depth.

Overall, good job! The weapons effect are quite substance-full and I will definitely be trying to improve my score next time.

Hmm, maybe you've got a point there with the speed of the enemy bullets. The graphics are usually my weakest point, and background graphics especially. The mountains indeed look a bit flat. I'll see what I can do. The hue of the sky colour is actually randomized in every level, so it should change Grin Maybe you just got the same color all the time Wink
