Hey great people!

I thought it would be fun and cathartic for everyone if we post our old, terrible work. Maybe it will be also inspirational to see how much we can improve in a short amount of time if we really put our minds to it.

Here is some stuff I made when I was 14 and 15 (I'm 21 now):

There is some fucking amazing edge control being displayed in this piece.

Let this be a lesson - zooming in and focusing exclusively on details does not do anything for a picture.

Yes, I was listening to Linkin Park while I drew this.

Actually, I still really like this picture for some reason. Probably because it was a direct ripoff of one of my favourite Rebecca Guay illustrations: Dark Ritual

Look at this motherfucker.

I think this was probably my first purely digital drawing, and still one of my only "landscapes." I should really rectify that.

Gotta love the stock cloud photo I used for the background.

So, let's see what you've got! The more embarrassing the better. And if you want to post your current work so we can see how much you've improved, that's cool too!

Perhaps add just one picture of your contemporary work for comparison?

before and afters are much more fun than either on their own, methinks. not to mention we can all gape at how far/little any one particular person has come :3

Best thread!

Gabriel, I think you were already talented in many perspectives back then. You had a great sense of colors!

I have much more stuff I could post but I only have some at hand right now:

This is the first digital painting I made, I must have been 16. Look at those err... amazing texture filters i used!

Lesson to be learned for beginners - don't use filters and textures as shortcuts. It will NOT look good if you don't know what you're doing.

ah flashback.  I'm in a car, the drawing desk I put together from scraps of wood is on the roof, my mother is driving me to drop it off at my friends place for christmas, I tuck the drawing of elliott smith inside, when we get there, the drawing is gone  Cry

and for laughs, rpgmaker, 14:

Yeah rocking out the photoshop filters in 2007! Please do not copy guys!

Seriously don't copy it.
Look at the shadows on that thing. I can't understand why I put white edges on them...

Y'all should post some comparison shots as well. It's always nice to see how far people have come.
For comparison, 2011

I don't like to post my old work because I deleted it all. Also it was made when I was 12 and thought I was an 'artist' for using photoshop filters and a little fruity text, usually spelled wrong.

Man. I wonder how many people will post in this thread saying "I was such an IDIOT BACK THEN"
