It's about time I did this thing!

I've been a devout fan of indie games for about 10 years now.  Looking back at all the greats I've played over time I decided to choose to release my first full-blown PC action platformer titled: Spezy: In the Kingdom of Mondoland

Spezy, a simple minded, six eyed reptile gets whisked away to a strange land, armed with his friend's "Gabber Gobble Laser Gun" he sets out to free the 3 kings of MondoLand, enslaved by the diabolical Mombo Mondo.

It plays a little like Soldat meets Super Mario Brothers, colorful and energetic. The game will be about three chapters long, each chapter will have 3 levels and a boss battle, leading to one final level and a showdown with Mombo Mondo Himself.

Spezy is a character I've been drawing for 12 years now, his adventures have filled binders and binders.  And now, since I have some free time on my hands, I figure my little red friend should have a game of his own.

I hope this hasn't been too wordy and I hope you come by my livejournal page {http://amon26-vg.livejournal.com}to take a look at how it's coming along.

Nice to see other people on LiveJournal though!  I just friended you (username=rinku).

Will check out the game soon,

Not yet guys, But I have a neat plan for the demo.  Something that gives you an idea of how the game plays but the levels wont be anything that you'll find in the final version.  Think of it sort of the same way valve made Half-Life 1 shareware by making a whole separate mission called up link.  I'll hammer this out by the end of the week for you guys okay?

Thanks for your positive comments, cant wait for everyone to play it! :-D

I'm about to release a preview. But I want to make sure my characters and concepts are as safe as I can make them, what precautions can I do to legally protect myself?

Veyr simple. Just add a warning just like othe rgames. Y,know the screen that goes: "All names, logos and related materials are the property of INSERTNAME. All rights reserved 2007"
This means that all you created is yours and no one can use, copy or modify it without your consent. That won't stop the evil doers but at least you warned them Wink

Of course, I'm assuming that you have the rights to every little tid bits of artwowrk and code in your project. If not, you have to tell where they're from.

If you want, you can add a line talking about the distribution of the game, such as "demo, distribute freely" or anything in the likes of that which fits your needs.

http://www.goupload.info/

This is my favorite... You got stats and no annoying pop-ups. Lasts for quite a long while too...

http://www.uploadbigfiles.net/

Use this one if go upload doesn't work. It has stats but the website is annoying.

There are others but never needed to use them Wink

Pretty cool game you are making, although this level was very easy. The enemies never even came close to hitting me the entire time. It's probably because you have a gun that can shoot the entire screen distance in any direction and kill everything in one hit. You may want to add a maximum range to the gun so you can't take enemies out a half a level away. You can also add gun power ups later on as well. Also, I thought the walking was a little too slippery, kinda felt like I was on ice the entire level, Or maybe the main character is on roller skates.

Overall it was pretty good, keep working on it and you will have something really nice. You may want to add more original elements to the game to give it a unique feel. Keep it up!

I liked it but (maybe I didn't check the optins fully, if there were any) it could definitly benefit from displaying a little bigger, I'd make an option right there on the title screen "double screen size" or something like that.  The stage design seems a little crazy with no real direction, it's not difficult to get through or anything, but it feels a little random, especially with just one stage like that, I'm left more confused (it's over so fast!) than hungry to play more.  I like the way the music changes when you pick up the stereo--it seems like there must be something going on there, with the story of the game, maybe?  (I'm reminded of WarioLand 4 on the GBA, where you could collect records in each stage to play in the sound room later on).
