Aren't they unhealthy enough without doing that? Here's what I made earlier tonight. I thought the color was pretty, so I took a picture: It's purple cabbage sauteed with onions and garlic. I had it with instant couscous and two eggs over easy... Except I called them eggs over rough because I can't seem to ever make EOE without breaking the damn yolks and having everything stick to the pan. After I made that, my GF stopped by and we went to Indian buffet where I gorged myself on a second dinner. This is why I'm fat gave up on the vegan thing?

Yeah, that lasted for about 6 months. I did manage to lose weight between being vegan and walking more, but veganism is way too difficult for someone as lacking in self-discipline as I am. Besides, it's hard enough to find decent vegetarian food in my neighborhood, let alone vegan (everything is Chinese, which means dead animals in everything) or pizza (cheese in everything).
It's easy to not eat meat after a while. After a few months, you don't really miss it. Cheese, on the other hand... *lights up a cigarette made of cheese*

I don't understand why people think being vegetarian or vegan makes you lose weight. Usually you just end up eating shitloads of bread and rice and then become fat.

it's hard to stay healthy as a vegetarian for the reason gabriel said. Meat has a bit more variety in its nutrients than most individual non-meat items so you have be a bit more thoughtful about what kinds of foods you eat
if you are vegetarian, the easiest way to stay healthy is to make beans a staple of your meals. They fill you up much faster than most everything else and don't fatten you up like bread or (white) rice. Eggs are a good source of protein, especially for breakfast (one of the best ways to lose weight without much change is to make sure to eat a protein rich breakfast really soon after waking up. Just switching from cereal to eggs or no breakfast at all to eggs will do wonders for your metabolism)
I have been a strict vegetarian on and off, but now I don't eat much meat out of habit more than anything else. I like bacon and most forms of beef. I do try to avoid mass market meats and eggs though. I don't like factory farming for the animals or for the environment.
I just grilled myself some hamburgers

Yeah, I've been a vegetarian for a total of about 3 years and both times I felt very unhealthy and gained weight. Although everyone's body is different and I think blood type has a lot to do with what kind of diet is healthy for you (from what I've read, different blood types came about from different stages of civilization, like hunter-gatherer, farmer, etc., and the associated diets). My half-sister is a vegan and is really lean and healthy, but for me it just doesn't work.

I had never heard of blood types having anything to do with optimal diets. That's really interesting.

It also sounds like bullshit. I wouldn't mind seeing some sources (found nothing about it on wikipedia)
