War of the Roses is an upcoming multiplayer game developed by Fatshark and published by Paradox that is inspired by Mount & Blade's combat. It adds things like persistent unlocks and (hopefully) more polish to the multiplayer. I'm pretty excited for it and you can sign up for the beta here. (It is a referral link and it fills once you get 5. Once that goes I can remove it and we can get a chain going.)

I'm excited because I enjoyed M&B's multiplayer but it is a little janky. I am worried about Fatshark's record, though.

it looked interesting at first until I saw it was being made by Fatshark. everything they've done so far is mediocre at best.

wanna give it a chance though, but if I don't get into the beta I'll probably wait for a free weekend or something before I think about buying it.

Yeah I'm in the same boat as Allen. I'm a gigantic Mount & Blade fan so I've been really excited for it, but from what I've seen of Fatshark they seem to be one of those fly-by-night startups who are working on waaaaay more projects than they can handle.

Here is my referral link though, if anyone is interested: LINK

I got into the beta. I don't mind violating the NDA because the game is massively mediocre, as expected from Fatshark. It is essentially Mount & Blade Warband's MP mode, but with looser controls and experience-based unlocks for equipment. Just... just play warband. It has cool mods and is a better, cheaper game.

Exactly what crowe said. This beta was very underwhelming. Bland, repetitive, finicky controls, and just generally not fun.

I remember hearing about this, I really like the customisation offered by the perk system... if that is working yet?

I can't say much about WotR, other than I didn't like the look of it based on the trailers. But, to be fair, I really enjoyed Fatshark's western shooter from 2010, Lead & Gold!

That's the thing, from the videos I thought it looked pretty fun, but after playing it I found it rather dull.

Having actually, you know, played the thing, I have to disagree. It's boring and terrible.

Yup, got into the beta as well, I have the same thoughts as everyone posting. It's just completely forgettable. They have the whole xp and equipment upgrades model of CoD, but the controls are just so unresponsive that it's just not fun to play. It's the kind of thing that seems ok for about 20 minutes and once you're done you never think about it again in your life.

Well it's not even really for the same kind of players as M&B. If you enjoy mindless button-mashing and xp points, then you might have fun with it, but even then, the controls are so jerky and unresponsive even that's doubtful. It doesn't even come close to having the precision, skill-based combat of M&B.
