I wonder how much of the appeal has to do with having enjoyed the original Guild Wars so much.

I absolutely hated the original Guild Wars. Probably mostly due to the movement feeling clunky.

Um GW1 was based on PvP mostly, and this is kinda like GW1 but based on PvE I guess, and coming off aion as my last big MMO It's in this nice cozy warm spot for me =]

actually very much so the opposite, I'd say they are actually pretty well made considering the first GW elementalist vabbian armor set

Yep, it's nothing like asian MMOs. The human ladies all have young and sexy physiques and 18 years old faces, but the armours are not ridiculous. Plus Charr and Asura females don't even have boobs, so it's not trying to cater to furry fans (like WoW does).

BTW, playing a warrior, I found the COOLEST THING TO DO IN PVP EVER

1. Make a warrior
2. set all your insigs to power + crit damage
3. Make a rifle with chance to proc lighting/flameblast on crit.
4. Set traits all +30power +30Arms 10+ diciplin
Make your burst cost less etc. and give adren on weapon swap, and rifle piercing
5. Make a mace + warhorn
6. Give both + adren on weapon switch insigs
Now the fun part  

7. Get 3 other warriors to do the same setup
8. roam around spamming your heal (give adren) and your mace block skill (give adren) while chaining the "CHARGE" skill
9. Choose a target (or a group of like 20 targets in WvW)
10. all three hit your burst right away
11. Instantly deal 28k-33k damage   to that target, and then every single target in a line behind him with NO DAMAGE FALL OFF (instant group wipe)
12. switch to your mace hit adren build skill 2 + swap weapons again
13. do it again. and then again every 3 seconds.

You can do follow up spikes with every brutal shot + your multi shot.
