You missed an i in the topic title.

Hope this goes well! I won't be able to attend this, I've got stuff to sort out this month and will need to be at home for the beginning of Feb.

I'll join you guys live on Skype, though!

Out of curiousity, why do you charge $25 and is it accustomed to do so?

We're renting out a theater to show the movie. For our other jams, we print t-shirts. (not sure if we will this year yet) We also like having a base ticket price so we ensure we get people who mean business.

Sometimes there are other expenses, last year we had to buy up a bunch of power bars and fans based on the space we got, etc.

Haha, yeah it got ridiculously hot last time at the space we were at. This time we have a different space. Smiley Also it'll be February so it should be pretty cold out. Tongue

Answered a bunch of questions off twitter:

"Will it be possible to find lodging from locals participating in the Jam?"

Usually we end up with 10+ people crashing at our apartment. Smiley
I'm not sure who else would have space in the immediate area, but we could try asking around. Otherwise, there are nearby hotels and we should be able to offset at least part of the cost. (depends on exactly how much funding we get)

"If the plane flight does not land until Friday, is it cool if we come late for the Jam?"

Yeah, you can show up whenever you want. Your jam time is going to be cut a bit short by the screening on Sunday afternoon, so keep that in mind if you want to finish something.

"Will there be electrical outlets at the Jam site?"

Yes. And we'll have extra powerbars and stuff too.

"If my dad and I go together, can he hang out at the Jam site without actively participating? Or is there reserved spaces?"

We'd appreciate it if everyone who came bought a ticket. There are a limit to the # of tickets, it helps so we know how many people will be there etc.

"Is the Jam site open 24-hours, or does it open and close on a schedule? Can we work at any time of day/night?"

Maybe not any time, but probably most of the night. It depends on whether there's someone from Skullspace around all night or not. Usually we stay up till like 1-3am, but this year I think we might want to get up early on Sunday. (Since we'll be having the screening thing in the afternoon)

Then again, some of us might want to pull all-nighters... Smiley

I've never been to a game jam before.
How do they work?  Is everybody working on the same game, or different ones?  Do you use a specific engine/tech?

I think I'll be going. Depends on what the offset is and if the dollars are up front or reimbursement.

I was toying with the idea of going, but then I checked how much the flight would cost (>$650).
