Terratroid is my WIP title that I plan to put into the Blender Game Competition 2012...

MOST RECENT DEVLOG: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vouv029s9S4&feature=youtu.be

Hello Everyone!

I'm coming up with a few good concepts to try out for the competition. I have a prototype running for the game shown below, just working on the fun factor now.

I was thinking of having a vastly open world exploration shooter where you can journey all across a planet surface. You are updated on hotspots, where you will battle more intelligent enemies along side some support. Other than that, you are isolated, completing missions and fighting enemies. Your main goal is to protect mining camps, science labs, and colonies. If you fail to protect people, the blood is on your hands. You will get a large APC to venture in, giving you speed and armor. You will collect data, samples, and artifacts for the colony, but discovering the ancient society that once existed is your own mission. Ammo is scarce, so stocking up when you can is important. Just rambling some ideas...

I don't plan on spending a lot of time on this game, the aim is just to make a fun game and if switch to a different idea, it will still be posted here, thanks!

Heh, so you made a thread for your entry, huh? Well, I've seen your videos, and this is turning out really good. I hope that you finish it - I like the idea and the graphical style. Could be really cool, especially if you were to put it online. Ninja

Thanks SolarLune! I want to, but my progress will be shifty since more of my time is spent on my iOS WIP than my entry.

Online seems far fetched. Carlos (carlosandlexi) and I got my Gottduck TDS online with four player co-op working perfectly, but just to get the basics working was ridiculous.

Update from yesterday that I didn't post...

Is the enemy animated?

Yes.

Can the enemy die?
Yes.

Is there a death animation?

No.

How so? Isn't it just sending and receiving packets using the socket module, then setting object variables to those packet info pieces? I don't know - I'm just guessing, but how was it ridiculous?

Well, to get it smooth, carlos had to rewrite the whole system, then sending that the player died on one game sending to the other, had some glitches, plus carlos made a script for physical objects to be in the same location on both computers. Also having the enemies in the same place with the same ammo, with the same weapon, ect.

Terrible Dating Sim?
Twisted Delusional Satirist?
Top Down Shooter?
Tessellating Devious Sauce?

TDS is my favorite sauce.

But this seems like a side view / angle. So TDS certainly means something else!  Big Laff

Top Down Shooter (the camera is vertical over the player but the sprites are flat.)

...and thank you very much CEDE for the sticky-note drawing!
