Hey guys,

I'm facing a hard decision as I stated in the thread's name. And I need a free one because no moneys atm.
There are options like SMF, PhpBB, MyBB and probably even more and I can't decide which will be better to choose.
I want it to be a forum for my "studio's" website, atm for beta testers and later for the whole community which we will have.
Any ideas?

having used/set up smf and phpbb, I'd say smf hands down of those two.

Thanks, TeeGee told me the same after using phpbb so I'm proceeding to install SMF.

SMF and phpBB are both great choices. I've had experience with both SMF 2 and phpBB 3, and they have their pros and cons. SMF's code and modularity are lovely; phpBB's admin panel I find much easier to navigate. Simple tasks can sometimes take 3 random drop down clicks to find which is sort of confusing, but overall I still prefer SMF.

I would do phpbb but thats just personal preference. vBulletin will forever be the king but it's about $200 for startup I believe.

After using it a little I think that SMF is kinda cool, however it has the worst forums and categories editor from what I've already seen
