I recently started updating Straima (devlog) and what with me having no musical talent am hoping some of you lovely people might offer up your services. Most Straima levels only last around 25-45 seconds so the idea is that at the start of every level a random tune plays.

Straima is just a hobby game, I've got no intentions of ever selling it. As for credits, at the start of each level the author of the level and tune will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. All tune/author names will be stored in the info.txt file as well as any extra details such as websites. All of the tunes will also be stored in their own tunes folder so you're free to edit the details of the files (though I'd prefer to keep a consistent naming scheme for ease of coding).

yo bro, this is a pretty cool game. I like the neon-like visuals... it's just so perty! :D I played the game a bit and it was fun(though I suck as these kinds of games) the controls were really tight, man.

http://tindeck.com/listen/inqw
it's not exactly chiptune(it started out as one) but I HAD to make it sound all 80s like. the bass line was asking for it. it's pretty rough right now but if you want me to finish it or make more I'd be happy to(I don't get a chance to make this type of music very often! Tongue) I think I'll try and make it at least a minute and a half, that way if the player takes a bit longer than usual the song won't get too repetitive.

Fun game, still trying to get the hang of it though. If you haven't gotten someone already, I would love to make some chiptunes for you. (sorry about my newby-ness on these forums)

Here, I made a song for the game: http://www.box.com/s/v1dqcxy9e3iyy2btofop

I tried to make it fit the game's atmosphere as best as I could.

If you like it and you want me to make more, tell me. WTF

@swordofkings128
Sweet holy crap that's perfect. I only mentioned the 40 seconds because I'm a bit worried about filesizes as I'd like to get quite a fair few tunes in there. When I playtest it's uncommon for a level to last longer than 30 seconds even if I die so I wouldn't be too worried about it sounding repetitive, but I'm not fussed about length, ideally I just don't really want to go over the 1mb per tune mark.

@Hfish
Oh that's gooood as well, and when I converted it over to .ogg it was a rather tastily mere 416kb.

I'm pretty much looking to get my grubby mitts on as many tunes as I can so knock yourself out chaps. Coffee

Sorry about the .wav, haha. I didn't know what kind of file you wanted. I can make them all oggs if you want me to.

Another question, what time do you need these done? I could probably do another 3 or 4 by this Sunday...

Well I'll be using only .ogg so it would be helpful if they are in that format, but I can convert them anyway so it's no hassle.

I've got a fair bit of work next week so I was planning on releasing the update this Sunday, but there's no rush. All I have to do to add tracks is pop them in the tunes folder so I can make a quick update to the game's zip whenever I like really.

Alright, I will get on that then. And the song swordofkings128 made should be the main menu and level select theme! It's really good!

thanks guys! How about another song? I had a fun time making this one! Also I'll finish up the other song I made tomorrow or the next day I have a day off(which is like a couple days from now)
http://tindeck.com/listen/qcre

hfish, that's a pretty tight song. It's so grooovy! :d I love music that one can just smile, bit there lower-lip, and do a little head-bop to, which is what I can do to that song.

Also I'll try and keep the songs below a meg. That's usually just a little over a minute for a song exported at 160 kbps. btw, do you want .ogg or mp3? I can do either one, dog.

Evil

That's so gawd damn delicious! My only minor niggle is the loop is a bit abrupt... but other than that jolly terrific in every way.

I'm not fussed about the file format. I need to open them up in Audacity anyway to make sure all the tunes have similar volume levels so whatever is easiest for you guys.

hey bro, just been busy with a couple things! I'll probably get the other two songs finished up and more loopable tomorrow, but here are a couple others I've been working on.

I think I went a bit overboard on this one... :S

http://tindeck.com/listen/rccf
level select screeN?

thanks for liking these! :D I'll most the last song I posted not end so sharply. flstudio has several options when exporting a song, and I had "cut remainder" selected by accident. usually when I select "leave remainder" it works a bit better.

You went overboard on the awesome, that's what you did good sir! I've just been testing these in-game and I'm really loving the difference in style between those last two you posted, really gives a totally different vibe each time you play. Hand Thumbs Up LeftSmiley

Okay no rush, it won't take long to add them in-game so I'll just release the update whenever you're finished.

Tracks sound really awesome, they have some modern flow, pity I wrote only 3-5 tracks in this genre... Great work man, my fav track is "Streamea"!

Bloody brilliant sok128, thanks a bunch for these they add a huge amount to Straima. I just updated the release now but let me know if you want me to change anything or come up with some new tunes. If you've got a website or something I can add that to the info file as well.

Also yeah I agree with Android-Music. The other tunes suit Straima's gameplay more but I'm really liking Streamea and would love to hear a longer version sometime.

I would be happy to provide any chip music if still needed?  I have some examples of work so far on my portfolio.
