Also, if there is always a better person than you, this would require infinite persons. Fact.

Not if there are three people called Rock Paper and Scissor. Lemma 1: Being "better than" can be non-transitive. A is better than B, and B is better than C, but C is better than A. Lemma 2: Being "better than" isn't one dimensional. Consider in Top-Trumps there are four dimensions through which we can compare two cards. In some of those ways card A is better, and in other ways card B is better.

There will always be someone better than you.
absolutely and blatantly false I disagree, it's a pretty common assumption even. There's always something to improve upon, because there's no end to what people can do, leading to a perpetual cycle of self-improvement. Who's the best game developer? Do you think they think they're the best?

That's easy. I'm the best game developer. And I think I think I'm the best.

-That dumb thing somebody did that you would never do? You do similar things, you get to provide reasons for yourself though.
-Much of your personality coming out of childhood will be formed from coping mechanisms for the stresses of modern life.
Those two are related by the way

This is one of the most beautiful truths ever. Even particular talents and skills that people would say were "gifted" to you. are usually in fact born out of some sort of bad crap from earlier in your childhood. For instance, a friend of mine is really good with people and social situations and figuring out social problems and diffusing tempers. He works at an Apple store and they utilize his "gift" in the store whenever there is an angry customer or dispute. The reason he can do it so well is because of his alcoholic abusive father and he was always the peace maker between his parents. It's just awesome how that stuff can get turned around and be used to help other people.

Humans are an adaptive species, and that can be pretty cool sometimes. However, what coping mechanism inspires people to make games? Could it be that they were surrounded by a mundane world as a child and wanted to create their own worlds to escape into, or that they see the beauty around them with clarity and try to capture that wonder in games?

I think if one was poor as a child and had no games to play, they would make them.

- We like to copy other peoples' behaviour. Sometimes aware to it, sometimes not. Sometimes we copy the good things, sometimes we copy the bad thing(for instance becoming a rude driver after other people have been rude to you).
