Hey everyone. I've followed a few games on the forums over the years, but I never posted anything of my own. ...UNTIL TODAY!

A few weeks ago, when Hexels was gathering steam on Tumblr, I was inspired by some of the images created with the tool.

I mocked up this image in Maya -- I've always wanted to play a game that looked like this. But I have no idea what the game is -- an RTS? A Populous‎-like resource gatherer? A sandbox builder?

I don't really know.

Anyway, I like this aesthetic and I thought I'd share it with everyone =)

Why on earth is the image tilted thirty degrees?  Huh?

If you rotate a hexagon it's still a hexagon.

The full version comes with other shapes than hexagons. One is a narrow triangle that rotates between facing up and down, so you can draw perspective at a 30-ish degree angle.

Here's one of the publisher's images - you can see individual triangles in this one.

Reminds me of Grow Cube.

The angle is extremely disorienting, but I love the art style.  Ninja Hand Thumbs Up Right

I have to admit, I like the art style.  And it gives me some ideas on gameplay.  Especially since someone mentioned the Grow series of games.

It could be interesting to take the "civil engineering" mechanics of a game like Dwarf Fortress, expand on them and make a game of that.  For instance, players in that game sometimes create structures like "pump stacks" to irrigate their crops from underground lakes, because it's safer than using surface water.

Anyway it's a neat idea, but please don't make water work like that.  >_<  I really hope it doesn't become an accepted thing that water in videogames should work like that.
