Actually SpriteBatch shader, which it uses for all 2D texture rendering,  needs 1.1 Shader support. Still, I agree it's a bit sucky. To be honest I've thought a lot of the problems people had running it were missing prerequisites that weren't documented very well :S

re: Engine. Obviously XBLA is a big draw for us, but certainly we didn't think there was this many with issues running it. Any links to a poll or anything on XNA working on people's PCs?

Some XNA apps work for me, some plain don't. It's really annoying to see heaps of great stuff that I can't play for some crazy reason.

This, however, did run, and was excellent.

Out of curiosity, those who can't get XNA games running, do you have:

xinput1_2.dll
xinput1_3.dll
x3daudio1_3.dll
x3daudio1_2.dll
d3dx9_31.dll
xactengine2_9.dll

files in your system32? The DX Web Installer should install them but it's possible these slipped through the net somewhere.

There's also this, to see if your gfx card is up to it:

I'm under the impression this is possibly the most accurate demake of the Compo. Though I've only got reviews and comments on the original to go by. Broken, laden with exploitative single entendres, and playable. Under the impression this game could have actually existed and been sold some time in the past...

Or present.    Shocked

I never had a problem with any XNA games, though I don't write them myself (all that open-source zealotry or I primarily use Linux, take your choice). I don't think things are that bad for running games, it "just worked" on my machine and I don't have the XNA developer's stuff.

Did it work in Wine, or are you dual-booting?

*sigh* Here we have a game with jubbling boobs and the conversation has devolved to complaining about XNA.

Shoulda used Allegro.

I feel I need to get this thread back on topic. Google and ye shall find:

I'm not familiar with XNA's structure, but isn't there a way to make self-contained apps inside the framework?  Or a way to bundle the framework so that it sticks to your application's home folder?

Do commercial ventures use XNA?
I'm think the answer to all your questions is no.  Sad

They must've found a way to distribute their code without having to install an entire SDK along with it...
Well, technically you don't have to install the SDK, just the framework redistributable and the .NET runtime stuff.

That video is great! It's a shame about the compression artifacts. You should release the end credits 'dance' as an animated GIF, it's rather special! XD
Any chance of getting this as an animated gif?

The intro theme song totally makes this game.

A few questions. Is the last site on Mick's beach possible to unlock? Is there something awesome if you get all close friends by the end? And how did you get the jiggle down so good?

:D Yeah, doing that bit was fun!

Is the last site on Mick's beach possible to unlock?
The lovely Marina is a minigame we didn't quite get time to implement. The sprites are all done, and the basic controls were done, but we hadn't done the A.I or made it particularly fun yet. Maybe in a future update...

Who knows?

And how did you get the jiggle down so good?

Practice  :D heh heh heh!

edit: Oh and...

You should release the end credits 'dance' as an animated GIF, it's rather special! XD

But then what would be the point in playing the game? Wink

Between the XNA mysteries and the boobies, just wanted to give props for capturing the C64 look so well. the intro, and especially the care not to have more than 2 colors per 8x8 block.  Beer!

C64 vs Speccy battles. What is this, retroremakes?

Hey, I just finished the game for the first time (maybe the last, who knows). When I figured out how to control my hit by holding a direction when I hit the ball that was a great help. I wonder if it was mentioned before.

How do you know which gift to give to which person. I got 4 friends but no "close" friends. Is there benefits to getting "close" friends, aside from a warm fuzzy feeling?
