@ugabuga: I can't even begin to guess what the gameplay's like, but I'm intrigued.

@Zack Bell: Frog Sord dies so you make Raccoon Sord instead??

@oakly: I want to explore that world. I also like the guy's ditto face.

So I was making a game with a bunch of circles and gradients for a competition, but it turned out to be really boring. So I came up with another game and I was going to try and finish in the remaining few days I had, but that proved to be completely impossible. It should be done in the coming weeks though.

I've been working some more on the Dark Forest. There are two new objects.

First there's a strange hole that emits an even stranger mist that you should avoid. Also a strong enemy emerges near those holes. It is invisible as long as you don't fight it, but you can still see its shadow on the ground.

The second is a mysterious eye that appears out of nowhere and you have to touch it fast enough before it disappears again to get some extra jewels.

When I was not working on the actual game I had some more fun with this:

I also made a little gif showing all the status effects that are currently in the game.

Paralysis: randomly paralyses you when moving or in battle
Confusion: the hero will randomly choose a direction at forks and you cannot stop him
Blindness: the hero has a 50% chance of missing the enemy
Poison: the hero loses some life from time to time

Busy with finals so haven't gotten a lot done in two weeks, but been working on some more dance animations. Here's Chronos' animation:

"Go shorty, it's your upgrade, we gonna party like it's your upgrade!"

This is the beginning of a dance-off room in the game.

Our next two alien races are ready for animation. Hopefully I'll have both ingame and animated next week:

The Lopik, a telekinetic race:

The Krex:

Also next week, we are working on the storyline intro sequence. The current plan is to get the intro sequence, and alien dialog system in place so we can make an end to end promo video showing story, exploration, alien interaction, and combat. It seems like a minimum needed to get the idea of what the game is about across in a video, especially for gamers unfamiliar with starflight/starcontrol type games from a couple decades ago.

Misc. dev videos of progress over the last few weeks:
