I'm working on Deepest Dungeons of Doom: I like the graphics, though I think the background's too bright. Also, I get what the other two signs are, but what does space do? Looking great so far, though!

I'm working on Deepest Dungeons of Doom: I think the background is fine, it matches the rest of the scene, but the GUI is too dark and heavy. I'd put it at the bottom I think, because it's so substantial and not an overlay.

Spurred by Claw's success with his awesome looking game, I've been experimenting with normal maps and pixels. EDIT: Also, the side project.

@bome99: Love the animated gif. Good job on the trailer. The music fits very well. Here is another screen shot of Tengami. This is one of my favourite scenes in the game at the moment. I am dying to get a video done, so you can see the folding and unfolding of the pop-up world. Well until then the picture has to do .

That cutout water-colored paper art style is really great. Looks like set pieces from doll theater almost. How do you do that in photoshop or paint shop pro?

@bome99: The scene is 3D modeled with Modo. Things like the tree or the gate are made of planes, into which we 'cut' the shape. It is pretty similar to how you would construct it with paper and scissor.
The 'water-colour' requires almost no work on our part. We have licensed a set of Japanese papers (called Washi) to use in the game. Washi paper is really amazing, some have these great colour gradients (like the image above) and others almost look like rock.
What tool do you use to make your animated gifs?

@nyyjen Ahh that's really clever :D I really like that look.
All my stuff is painted in Photoshop and put together as sprites in Unity3d using Sprite manager 2.
The gif I posted here is just an in-game video rendered as gif.

Really having a lot of fun doing art and level design, nice change from programming - getting a chance to feel creative rather than staring at text.
