May I ask what FPS this was running at?

60fps 1920 x 1080 (but my laptop can't make higher speed GIF's).. It's actually going to have elements of gauntlet, as well as puzzles like chips challenge and inspiration from other games. Oh, and a full level editor. Smiley

I've been working on a new game mode where the player moves around fleets of units and can then fight out the battles as tactical RTS mini-skirmishes. The interface still needs a lot of polishing, but functionally it does what it needs to do.

These are nice! Except.. everything that's rotated kind of stands out against the low-fi pixels. If possible I'd suggest making rotated versions. Also the player isn't quite alligned with the other pixels either.

I shall play around and see if I can get something that looks good.

You mean the lasers and particle effects in the third screenshots? Everything else should be 8x8 sprites.

Specifically, the resolution of the tiles is twice that of the character. The lasers are an even bigger offender.
