Wow, great character designs! I'm really interested to see where this 'eating' mechanic goes.

Do you fight the ghosts with quick-time events, or gather their lingering mementos to send-off their tormented souls?

Is there a hallucination meter (due to the presence of those pills)? Maybe the ghosts represent his guilt, chasing after him to get him off drugs.

Have you considered going for a symmetrical maze? I think it would look prettier, but I guess it might conflict with your horizontal/widescreen level setup.
