Agreed with Solar, the shield/attack barely covers your body. Are you able to keep it active or does it have a certain amount of time before it disappears again?

Currently it works so that hitting an enemy or a bullet makes the shield disappear, damaging the enemy and granting you a short time of invincibility. Basically it's like a one-time shield against all damage with an extra of countering it. (I didn't take any damage in that gif, I just need to work on the visual effect.)

Ahh, so the flashing just signified the invincibility, rather than taking damage. Maybe if there were an HUD we could see if the health/armor/durability/whatever bar goes down, at least.

I guess the flashing indicated damage (as it would normally happen without the shield) but it should have been turned-off because the character actually didn't taky any damage.

Kasran was actually correct. The blinking indicates invincibility, so getting hit with the shield on counters the damage and makes you blink for a short while. I'll have to work on the visual look, for sure. And keep in mind that there is a HUD that shows your health etc, but I seldom include it in the GIFs because it's not very interesting to look at.

Well, I think that the character shouldn't blink at all. I'm used to blink indicating damage. Imo just turn-off the shield on damage and let the char without any blinking or other effects.

Blinking has traditionally indicated the after-damage invincibility period ever since games like super mario bros.

Anyway, as you wish:

Ahahahah that was great. Yeah I was confused as to whether you were actually getting hit or not though, but I presume it would be more obvious with a HUD, but you aren't having a HUD are you?

As I said after linking the gif, there is a HUD, it's just not displayed on-screen. Here's what the HUD looks like: Really simple, but does the job (the one shown here is slightly outdated due to the removal of the bombs)

Oh haha. Apparently my ability to read and comprehend is failing too. Well then, the flash when you use the shield shouldn't be too much of a problem, especially since you don't get knocked back like you do when you get hit and stuffs. I am really excited about this game! Keep at it Hempuli

It might help to differentiate the post-powerup invincibility from taking damage, though. Maybe have the screen flash red for a frame when taking damage.
