starcraft 1 had a lot of glitches exploited and used by most decent players -- for instance the trick where workers go through other units when they are targeting a mineral patch, or the trick where you build something on a worker and it can 'jump' over a wall sometimes to reach an area it couldn't otherwise reach. sometimes these glitches become part of a whole professional starcraft meta-game like the mutalisk stacking bug did

Super smash bros. Melee had that Wave dash which became rather common in competitive gaming AFAIK.
I actually know people who refuse to play Smash Brawl because it doesn't have wave dashing.

Demo Reel 2012

Sit down and relax,
Keeping focus on your breath,
This may take a while.

Based on what's said here it sounds like a good glitch is one that's a result of the player trying to make it happen (or just trying to jar the game in general) and not one that happens without warning by chance or one that completely breaks the flow of the game. Coincidental glitches can go either way in appealing to or upsetting the player, and exploitation is fun up until it starts detracting a lot of content from the game (a speedrunner doesn't have a problem sequence breaking because they're already familiar with the game, but a first time player wouldn't want to miss out on the content).

In my playthrough of Half-Life 2 you at one point get to a segment where a giant door closes and you have to get off your boat and run through a segment to be able to open that door.
I completely bypassed that part by driving the boat into the sewer pipe (I think that was what it was anyway) and landing my boat on the railing from which I could get off the boat, push it back into the water, run up and push the button to open the door and continue forward. To this day I have not played through that segment legit XD. Not really a glitch though, just exploit of the physics engine.

(U)MVC3 has had some funny glitches. Like Dooms infinite missiles glitch, or the Z glitch where the axis the characters fight on is rotated 90 degrees. Both are fixed now though =/.

This is a good thing, as well as fixing that DLC glitch.

Don't forget the classic Dante freeze, too. lol

Oh, that's one more thing - multiplayer glitches are much more likely to be bad, especially online ones. If there's a glitch to get outside the map in singleplayer and shoot people through the wall where they can't retaliate, that's cool, but if you can do that in multiplayer then the game is pretty much ruined.
