Yeah, sorry... But I can't stand that kind of low standard for humor. A shitty pixel art dog with a fucking wig on it DOES NOT EQUAL funny, clever, or having personality.
Then again, it has a lot more personality than a shitty green ball or a pong paddle, if that's what they mean.

the indie game legend had some pretty good humor actually -- there were some bad jokes, but some good jokes too

Sorry that was a joking low blow. I haven't even played The Indie Legend... But now I feel like I should. I just don't get the point of talking about why people suck. It's counter productive or whatever. So I hear.

I thought this whole thing was sort of a "Dinner for Schmucks" type deal but with indie developers.

it's so that they can improve. if you always tell people they are great when they suck, they'll never improve. but if you give people negative feedback about the stupid things they do, they'll come to avoid those things and do better things in the future this btw is why you learn more from strict teachers than teachers who give everyone A's. and it's why games where it's trivially easy to win are less interesting than games where you can sometimes lose. in all such cases, it might not be as good on someone's self-esteem, but it usually teaches people more to be honestly critical than to be falsely positive

I didn't say you should be positive. I guess I'd rather everyone kind of went like this: Toss it over your shoulder and keep walking.

I have contempt brewing for all of you.
I try to balance it out with helpful critique... I do like the idea of this place.
But then I log on and experience it.

I guess I'd rather everyone kind of went like this: Toss it over your shoulder and keep walking. so you want everyone to not care about life, and not put in the effort to improve others or try to change anything? i can understand not caring about anything very strongly, but it's strange that someone who doesn't care about things cares when *others* care about things, and wants them not to care about things -- reminds me of a care bears villain

That's a pretty accurate look at the thought process of most of the people here I think.

It's possible I'm subconsciously trolling.
I see it more as someone who really wants to go on an adventure with his friends. But his friends would rather talk about their hair.

Take your own advice. You can't have rational discourse with every single person, some people are just Avoid unprofitable discussions/threads. Like I should have seen "IGN" and not clicked this thread. Whoops.

but the 'adventure' is 'making games' and what 'phubans' was talking about was that his 'idea for a game was bad', so it's not just an irrelevant thing about hair, it's the heart of the adventure it's like you want to go on an adventure with your friends and one of your friends says that you should get a dog with a wig to join your party and you're like "a dog with a wig? join my party? no!!!" and the other guy is like "hey why do you care? it's just a dog with a wig." and the other guy is like "but he's going to get us killed! monsters can see that wig and hear his barks from a mile away"
