Some progress, but not as much as I expected Sad
Things start to work better, though.

I'm afraid that sound will get supremely annoying if it loops like that.
Unless that's intended? Huh?

I just realized that you've emulated the Vectrex "screen overlays."  Ingenious!

Yap ! I wrote a pixel shader just for that Smiley
And it works pretty well, that's my mini-pride ! Gentleman

Now I'm more concerned about the AI, that doesn't behave properly. Not to mention le main playable ship, hahaha Smiley

Anyway, thx dude !

Love the rendering style... it's actually similar to what I was trying on my slow burner project / had tried on the previous incarnation.

Sorry. I need to stop linking that.

It looks great but keep going! I am really looking forward to this one!

Hi guys.
Here's a 3rd capture. The ship is controled on keyboard now. I rewrote completely this part of the code that was a pure non-functionnal hell. Now it's way simpler, and it works.

For now, the idea is to avoid enemies and mines, stuff like that, but if you don't touch the controls, the ship will follow the track, and will never crash against the walls.

This autopilot - thing was more of a compromise, for I really didn't manage to code something that allowed the player to drive freely along the track. So I guess I still have to insert some real racing elements, to make it fun.

We'll see.
Btw, the music is an original one, it was composed on a GameBoy Color by R3Z, a friend of mine, and incidentally owner of www.chiptune.com

awesome!
actually seems that you do backface culling, i mean, the ship seems not to be vectorial but solid (when it turns you can see some parts being occluded, showing that's a solid 3d model and not a wireframe)but it's still awesome beyond comprension.

can't wait to play it!

Coincidentally I was watching vectrex videos on youtube a day or so ago -- I owned one but I only had two games for it (mine sweeper and solar winds or something) and it died after less than a year.

The way it rolls around with the turns is beautiful (if a little jerky on the sharp ones). Is that a roll = lerp(roll, targetRoll, deltaTime*c) sort of a thing?

Exactly, it's a damn Lerp(), the only function I know to animate things around ! Smiley
I'll try to see to what extent I can publish the sources as well, without exposing too much the secret-proprietary-API of the engine i'm working with ...
I doubt the sources will impress anyone, but ...

Thanks for the nice comments, and for the additional Vectrex references. It makes even more motivated to finish that sort of "game" :p
