I use it daily myself, and I'm always worried that it might be considered "wrong" by afficionados of animation.

And then I think, fuck it, it looks good.

I lov the clunky feel it evoks,. with the sweet 3d model lurpin' around to show its nice details,. the sounds/music are workin to,. if you can make a fun game out of it you'll have a great entry.  have fun with it.

Hi guys !

I've been busy lately to get a decent gameplay, without too many bugs.
In addition, I prepared a nice installer, for the 3D engine I'm using comes with a few packages.

Anyway, here's the first demo of this VipeUt demake.
It's meant to run on a PC, WinXP or Vista, with a rather recent 3D card.

During the install, u'll be prompted to deploy OpenAL. Please install it, unless you know you already have them, otherwise, the demo won't probably start.

The installer creates two shortcuts on the desktop, one using the full featured renderer (OpenGL 2.0), the other one using a more consusual rendering method, not as pretty but fairly ok.

To download the demo, click on the link below :
http://astrofra.com/niji/VipeUt-install.zip

Please unzip the file in a directory. It contains both the installer and the runtimes needed.

Controls : use the arrow keys. Up = accelerate, Left & Right to strafe, Down = brake. The paddle was temporarilly disabled.

Press ESC to quit the demo.

This game is far from being finished. Anyway, Enjoy !!!  Beer!

EDIT ------------------------------------

The game is known to crash on some configurations. So far, it reported running successfully, with updated drivers, on a :

- Geforce Go 7600, Geforce 8800 GTX, GeForce 7950 GTX
- ATI X1300, ATI 3670

Doesn't work on a  :

- SiS 651

EDIT ------------------------------------

New installer uploaded, the VC 2008 Redist are no longer needed.

Hm. Crashed on startup. OpenAL and VC Runtime 2008 are installed...

Both the opengl and safe mode fail to run... Tried in WinXP compatibility mode, no success (running a Vista machine).

Damn, this might be my strongest opponent  Embarrassed

There might be a "vipeut_log.txt" file in your C:\
Would you mind to send it to me, if it's not empty ? (astrofra (at) gmail . com)

Thanks.

it runs here, but only in 'safe mode', the other one crashes as startup (on WinXP).
i got these warnings in vipeut_log.txt:

Code:
[H] Starting OpenGL 2.0 renderer...
[H] Fetch GL extensions...
[*] (nGL2Renderer::LoadOpenGLExtensions:90) glClampColorARB is not supported by this driver.
Renderer instantiated with no shader support.
Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
Renderer: ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200
Version: 2.1.7169 FireGL Release

No supersampling.
[H] Checking glClear() range.
[*] (nGL2Renderer::CheckglClear:39) glClear() is clamping on float buffers, performances will suffer.

and,
like with many other games too, i have some heavy flickering probs in fullscreen mode.
i could fix it once by turning on VSync via WGL_EXT_swap_control in code, maybe this helps...

otherwise, things look and sound very promising!

runs well in safe mode on geforce go 7300 ( open gl 2.0 short cut gives weird display ).

if one could have a little physics when passing corners game could really be something: very good visually , the vibe is there !  Wink

Crashes on normal mode, runs fine on safe mode. Really cool stuff! I love how the lines converge together to make bright, thick points. Really looks like a Vectrex, it's the little things that count! Beer!

I tested it on a 32-bit Vista machine with a GForce 6800 XT graphics card.

seems that if i say Cancel at the visual studio redist installation the game copy only half the files required to run, can't you make the redist stuff as optional during the installation? thanks

'just made a new installer, without the VC Redist. You don't need them anymore.
See the link above.

Thanks for you feedback, all of you ! This is pretty much appreciated.  Grin
