If somebody doesn't explicitly tell me how to get past the pit soon, I will kill a puppy.

You have to do a sacrifice.
Think about your items.

Just adding a blank post so the next one will have a white background...  Cool

Ok, I'm just going to spoil it. Progressively less vague hints follow (highlight to view)...

The pipe is the important element in solving this puzzle. Think about where it leads.

What happens when you take damage?

The grue can inflict damage if you walk into it without the torch.

If you take damage over the drainpipe while holding the rings, you'll drop them down the pipe.

You should be able to do the rest from there!

You're all too kind. Gentleman

that green soup freak (should I get what game he is from?
He's a bizarre combination of the unfortunately named Cranny Faggot from Limbo of the Lost, Kirby in a chef's hat, Ol' Greg from Mighty Boosh, and a random Scottish accent.

The 49th one missing was an accident in naming, but that is a great place for a gap. :D

I found you could highlight and walk to the target which put me in the right place.

Noyb I managed to sneak a cheeky amount of time at work to play, and let me just congratulate you on this amazing piece of work...  Didn't wanna post until I'd finished it, but I just had to show some love...  For a big point'n'click adventure fan, this is all my birthdays at once.

Gentleman I take my hat off to you sir.

Ah.  Fantastic game.  But it crashed when I was on the screen with the pit, and I hadn't saved Cry

I really need to get my own webspace one of these days. Filefront irrevocably deleted my files because I had the gall to not visit their site every two weeks, and we all know what happened to WHFF. Facepalm

Reuploaded here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/js8jjm

Now I'm curious. How did this game come up in conversation?

Because we were talking about voice acting and adventure games.  And, well, I think the game is very special.
