Trailer

SWAP is $14.99

So you can get it on Indievania by going to-> http://www.indievania.com/games/swap

Or at Desura by going to -> http://www.desura.com/games/swap

I hope you enjoy the game!

Now about the game

SWAP is a first person puzzle game, where the player must use a mechanic called SWAPPING to progress through each level. SWAPPING allows the player to select a object or colored tile then select another object or colored tile, and then the two objects or tiles will SWAP places. However not all objects are SWAPABLE, and each object has a purpose or a thing it can do. You must construct a way to pass each level by using the unique properties of each object combined with the ability to SWAP them throughout each level.

Cool idea. I don't think there are enough first person puzzle games. I'm interested to see how it turns out. The screenshots look really great. It would be cool to see a video of one of the puzzles.

Is there any particular kind of feedback your looking for?

I like the black and white theme, but I think the blacks need to be toned down a bit. Perhaps a dark grey would work better.

I watched the video and it looks cool but I'm still not sure what's really going on. I think a really clear description of the gameplay goals would go a long way.

So i went back and looked threw all the levels that i have done so far and they were all just to dark and well...blaa. And everything was to messy and unorganized so i spent a few days going threw and cleaning it all up, making it so that i can rapidly pop out levels.
so here is a video play through of the new first level with brighter colors and lighting as well as a better voice that you can understand better.

video

My goal is to get at least 10 levels for the game depending on the feedback i get or how much people like it ill add more. so ya let me know what you guys think and anything to change thanks!.

The aestetic is kind of boring.  The puzzles seem far too open ended to really be interesting, seeing as you can swap anything ..

Have you got a list of the various tiles or objects which you can swap and what they can do?

The graphics a looking loads better now that you got rid of all the darkness. Just out of curiousity, what are you using to create levels?

Seems an interesting game concept =)

I got a little confused of how the mid 1800's would take place on such a game.

I've watched the videos (and subscribed) but couldn't quite understand what were the objectives, on a micro level. I mean it seemed very open. At least by watching the video I didn't get what you were supposed to do on each room.

And like it has been said here and at youtube, adding some more personality to the graphics would be nice.
And maybe objects with different mechanics (seems like the arrows do something different). I think this game asks for variation...

Btw... I think it would be fun to be swapping things around =)
Whenever you have a playable build, post it here!

ya i currently have batteries cubes circuit tiles witch run the power from the batteries and the wind generators. also like a extending grabber type thing, a jump pad, a piston tile button tile a switch tile an lots of other tiles to come. also the 1800's is the time that you currently living in as a baby but the time where your doing the puzzles is hundreds of years later. and you are older.

ill be posting a video of all the objects so far as well as early screenshot of when your first a baby.

About these interactive objects, how do plan them to look like?

I mean, I don't know if you plan to represent them as concrete pictorical elements and these are placeholders or if you plan them to be as much simplified as possible (only the button was really clear to me).
In either case (wether they're placeholders or if they're real simplified stuff) it would be nice to have some labels telling what is each cube. And this could be typographically interesting! =)

im not quite sure what you mean but ya each object is pretty simple and you will probably understand each one better once i post the video i know they dont make sense but they will.

and in the first level right now i have updated it to show the word button over the button and this will be on the other objects as well.

For the graphic solution I suggested, I was thinking about the objects having the texts on themselves.

Something like this
http://www.pics24h.com/img/artwork/minimalist-typography-examples/minimalist-typography-examples09.jpg
http://www.myinkblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/typography_by_nominuss-d36vppo.jpg
http://alwayswords.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/jbh.jpg
http://mariedenise.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/harrys_phoenix_fullpagead1.jpg

But in a more clean way...
