AGwaK4: Herbert's Island Adventure

And someone was nice enough to make a gameplay video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xAye6WXIOII

But Why!!

I keep making these games! Nobody knows why.

Actually, I know why. They are relatively simple and serve as a great way to get into new frameworks, in my case Unity3D. So basically, this blends 3d models with 2d tiles. It's been done, it's just that *I* haven't done this yet. It was a great learning experience.

Let's Game!

You're playing a pond hippo called Herbert. His house has been destroyed and horrible blob things are nibbling on his flowers. That does not make him happy, so Herb decides to investigate.

Herbert starts with a basic run and spin attack, but learns more stuff later on. His main goal is collecting bells and coins hidden all over the level and maybe beat a few bosses along the way.

The game has 2 endings and 2 secret levels in addition to the normal 9.

Download

It can be downloaded at http://www.origamihero.com.

Direct Link (Mac OS X): http://www.origamihero.com/herbert_mac.zip

This is a release candidate. There shouldn't be any game-breaking bugs left, but I may have missed a thing or two.

EDIT: I can't test the MAC version. Unity basically gives me a herbet.app folder, which I zipped and uploaded. Will this work like this?

I'm sad to see this thread with 0 posts! Well anyhow, I just beat the game.

The graphics are a little off putting at first (perhaps because I'm too use to Bernie's ultra consistent and excellent pixel art style in his other games). None the less, the level design is as solid as everything else Origami Hero puts out. I love the way the game hints at its own secrets. Bernie shows his incredible talent for hiding intricate secrets in seemingly simple settings shines through regardless of the game engine. It's unfortunate that the mechanics are wonky and frustrating and the save points too far in between. I don't have the patience to go back and dig these out as I did was the other agwak games. In this case, I don't think the wonky mechanics add many emergent possibilities to the game either (like they do in say... Sexy Hiking).

And my ulterior motive for necroposting here is hoping that someone will make a video of all this game's secrets so I don't have to pull my hair out getting to them.

At the end of the day, Herbert's adventure is a welcomed addition to the agwak universe but the other agwak games are much more solid so play them first if you have not already.

Also if it's still relevant, this game works like a charm on mac.
