The game looks amazing, but it works a bit slow, and I get these see-through things when I dig down too fast

Thank you!

Yes, sorry, I have to fix that.

I just registered to this forum because of BlockScape.
I think it has a lot of potential because of the much smaller block sizes where you can build much more precise.
At the moment I'm using the demo version. It seems my game crashes when there is a lot new render information, i.e. running through a cave very fast. If it helps I could post or PM the error message.

Yes please!

My system consists of a Core i7 2600K with 16 GB RAM and a Geforce 570 GTX with 1280 MB, and the OS is Win 7 Ultimate x64.I think the hardware shouldn't be the problem.

When I bought the machine I'm using to develop Blockscape none of the hardware or software you mention existed. Smiley

What I am missing at the moment:
1. A little more information / tooltips! I have a lot of stuff in the inventory and don't know what it is. OK, I can identify sand, water, wood or stone, but when I dig around in caves I get several items which I can't really identify.

On my todo list now.

2. Night / Day change - will this come in the future?

Yes, in the near future.

3. Multiplayer - as far as I know it is in developement

Yes, within a week if all goes well.

4. The shadows are nice, but the world looks too dark and unfamiliar with it.

When the direct lighting is perfect (there are a few minor issues) I will enable secondary reflections which will brighten up some of the shadows.

5. Keyboard layout should be editable

On my todo list.

6. What about crafting? Is it planned?

The game uses something I call autocrafting: Crafted items/materials becomes available as soon as you mine the required base materials. I will probably make this optional in the future.

7. Will there be any AI Mobs / NPCs?

Yes! A concept artist and I are working to breathe life into Blockscape for phase 2.

On the website there is way too less info about this game. I hope there will be more information soon, because it is really nice and has potential.

I will try to update it with more information in next couple of days.

thank you for the feedback!

Mindblowing stuff Smiley

Thank you!

Do you plan on supporting Linux? Has anyone tried running this through Wine?

I want to support all the platforms that I possible can but right now the main focus is on Windows OS. I have not tried Wine.

I'm also curious, how good is the game doing so far financially? Is it able to support it's own development through sells or do you make it in your free time?

I work half time on the game. Only the last week the sales have been good enough to support development.

Hi,

I just tried to reproduce the error and it was no big problem. I jumped inside the first cave I could find and try to get as deep inside as possible and as quick as possible. After about one minute the first short lag appeared. As I got stuck on the bottom of the cave the next lag took a while, it happened about one minute later. The next lags came every 10-20 seconds. Just before the crash the game lagged about every second, and after 3:30 min total time it crashed finally.

A window with "Blockscape doesn't work any more" and these are the details:

I checked the windows event log for errors and there are 2 entries in the application log:

I checked the last errors I got before and they are exactly the same, just the timestamp and what has directly to do with the timestamp differ, the errors are the same.
I hope this helps you fixing some bugs Smiley

If you need more infos, testing or what else, just tell me and I try to test it.

Awesome! Thank you very much for the info!

I have been trying for hours to reproduce the error without any luck.

Now that I know where it happens I will be much easier to encapsulate the source. I'll be back with an updated version soon.

best regards
Jens

Here we go. A special TIGSource forum version:

www.ioneo.com/7715a0d9-7464-4b8a-8928-18ef0752a7d2/BlockscapeDebugSetup0.9.4484.40661.exe

This version runs in windowed mode, shows a lot of numbers that no one but me understands and dumps an error.txt if something goes wrong.

Hey,

Jens, I already tweeted you about setting up a own forum.Well you didnt answer, so I am trying to get an answer here.

Will you set up a forum for Blockscape?

Is there the possibility that somebody else could set up a official forum?

I really love this awesome game and I would love to see a place where any fan of it could discuss about it,show off creations, give feedback and do suggestions.

What if you included: AI/modeling/animation tools? (a huge challenge..)

Then players could create wildlife for their worlds, either aggressive/passive/friendly. The possibilities would really open up, even if executed is a very basic manner.

Just popping in to say that I'd hold your ground regarding the price. You've put a lot of time and effort into this thing, and I think lowering the price below 9 Euro would be unnecessary. It looks lovely still. Hope it's going okay.

Just want to inform you that I have added basic multiplayer to Blockscape. You can create a server and up to 255 clients can connect.

Now it is finally time to code something fun again: Gaming elements!
