May 6, 2012: It's done! Beer!

Download (Windows only):

Original post:

I posted this in the Screenshot Saturday thread, so I guess I might as well make a devlog thread since I'll probably want to post a few cryptic updates in the future.

I'm deliberately playing this one a little close to the chest, though...I'm probably not going to post any playable builds until very close to release. I don't want to make the same mistake I made on the Understory, showing too much too soon and then never delivering.

The short version is this: I'm making a 2D platformer, because that's a thing I feel like I should have done by now.

Flick Screen Platformer with endearing screen names has my vote.

Is the curvature of the screen from an actual monitor, or is it another graphical trick?

Looks neat, but I hope your game has more going for it than a fake CRT effect .. >_>

Finished up some menu and save game tasks tonight, and I'm calling this feature-complete!  Beer!

Now comes the fun part: making art and building/populating the world.

I made some splash screen art, but I'm not sure I'm gonna use it yet. Gotta wait and see if I can find some 5.25" floppies first to really sell the RETRO.

I still have a 3.5" drive on my oldest PC (circa 2001), but I don't think I've ever actually used it.

Also it's remarkably hard to find 3.5" disks these days. Apparently it's necessary for Fry's to dedicate an entire frickin' wall to blank CDs, DVDs, and BDs, but it's too much to ask for them to leave a few token boxes of floppy disks up there for laughs.  Huh?

Maybe you could just charge $50 and send them an external floppy drive too?
