Finally getting around to building actual levels.

http://youtu.be/3PCP_safiV0

This game is kind of hard. Epileptic

The Screen Curvature effect is awesome!
The gameplay looks v.diff, i'd buy it if it was on xbox (looks like it needs a controller and sofa).

I love the fake CRT effect and the CGA graphics, but I have to agree with Udderdude that the collision detection on the video looks frustratingly unforgiving.

Ahh... the beautiful black, white, cyan, and magenta colour scheme of CGA. My favourite game using CGA is Spy vs Spy: Arctic Antics on DOS.

Well that sucks, apparently the installer is getting flagged as a malicious link for some of my friends. Never had a problem with NSIS installers before...  Concerned

Are they using Chrome? Chrome marks a lot of my games, games I uploaded myself from this exact computer, as malicious all the time. It's a feature that isn't really 100% yet.

If that's not the case, I'm not sure.

Oh, and this looks great. I've been following it for a while and apparently I never posted. Looking forward to giving it a shot when I have some time to sit down with it. Smiley

Yep, it was Chrome (and maybe IE also?). Guess as long as it's a general issue and not specific to this game, I'm okay with it.

http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=piratehearts.com

I think it's an issue with Google not having scanned the site, so they warn the user "hey, we don't know this site. The executable you're downloading could be malicious!" The problem with that is that the message is exactly the same as a site that IS marked as malicious.

EDIT: Yeah, I got the message when I downloaded it, but I scanned it and it's not malicious. It's definitely a Chrome issue.

EDIT2:

Oh man that's hard. I'm at 12% and stuck trying to get out of an area with a single guy that looks kinda like a nautilus shooting bouncing projectiles.

The game's feel is great though. The graphics are awesome, the controls are tight. The only issue I had was that I wanted to hold down to keep going down through platforms and it wouldn't let me. Tongue

But holy crap, I can't figure out how to get the majority of these bags.

EDIT3: Grats. You got a mention on Terry Cavanagh's indie games blog. :D

Just reg'd to say this game is awesome.  The effect is used nicely, and the puzzles are challenging yet fun.  Currently stuck at 20% completion.

Well, I don't think I've ever played a game on a CRT quite as insanely curved as this one.  Got up to 15%, got past that king guy spewing bullets on the first try.  Will try it out more tomorrow.

This game turned out exactly as I'd hoped. Been so much fun so far and like the difficulty and how you have to pay attention to patterns. So far I'm at 40% and struggling to find the rest. Have found two orbs so far but have missed a few money bags that I can't seem to get to because they look like they need an extra jump or something. Looking forward to figuring them and the strange messages out.

Great job and really enjoying it so far. Very polished finished game Gentleman

I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would. The controls fit the game nicely, and I like the aesthetic. The only thing I felt was negative enough to say anything about was the goddamn Don't Be Hasty screen. I didn't know about it before it was too late... I think I may have to start a new game, even though I'm at ~75% right now. Other than that, great!

Yeah I had the same issue with the Don't Be Hasty screen which sucked because you can play the game without knowing about it till it's to late. Also really impressed you're at 75%.
