also today was spent enjoying the fact that i didn't have any contract work, and then ALMOST forgetting to work on this

i completely redid a few animations to make them more ACTIONY though

this one is finished


this one isnt (it's also not his death animation so dont worry about it being boring)

Finished playing with rendering, now I can finally display, texture and colour those little bastards without much hassle:



Nothing technically spectacular, but it allow us to create effects like that:

Behold the ghost, zombie, mutant-leg version of the captain.

On a more serious note, I struggled with those 3D primitive much longer than I should. I'm not even sure where I will use them, maybe a better, pseudo-soft lighting effects, some distortions etc. Back to the boring stuff now.

-Engine got redid
-A lot of sprites got/are being redo-d because some of the earlier sprites for this game looks like shit

Yep, the game is still alive, I've just had to rewrite it in XNA so there wasn't anything interesting to post for some time other than "just written another content pipeline extension yay". Will probably start writing again once interesting stuff starts coming up.

For that project, definitely. HaXe is a great language, but NME turned out to be a horrible library, run by people with really strange goals and attitudes toward developing it. Let's just say that during the time I've been using it, they've managed to break a lot of features that worked, and I'm talking about official releases, not individual repository revisions. Introducing a feature of bugfix means sacrificing 2 other, so I could chose release with working rendering or gamepad support, never both.

And XNA is just superior, it's documented, feature-rich, performance is better and the language itself retains the productivity.

Alright so I've got some words for you guys I guess

I've been posting a bunch of stuff in the pixelart thread, but I'm just gonna go ahead and bring some of that over here to summarize because I'm bored and don't want to work right now

All 4 stages have been changed, and are more varied now
The first stage is no longer a hospital (hospitals are boring i will slap you on the butt if you disagree)
here are the new enemy designs for this new stage along with captain's new idle pose


But yeah, updates:

This week will be a lot of animating for this guy
All of his animations have been sketched out, so I just need to get everything cleaned up and looking better, and then next on my to-do list is to redo basically half of captain's animations because I DONT LIKE THEM

ANOTHER UPDATE BECAUSE WORDS

I finished sketching out the afro zombie's animations last week, and got started on redoing the handful of Captain's animations that were complete trash. These will hopefully be finished up by the end of the week, which means we'll finally be back on track with animations.

As far as programming goes - because I'm sure it's kinda boring hearing about just the art end of things - Mike has started reimplementing all of the animations into the new engine, and you'll probably start hearing from him again when he gets back to where he was before the decision to reprogram the entire engine.

Basically, the whole Redoing Everything stage is basically finished up and there's gonna be actual progress on this game again really soon.

I dont know why but I really want this to have over the top sound effects! Sort of like Deepak fights robots, dont know why! just this game looks epic and it needs epic sound effects Cheesy
