Noir The Game Noir

You are Felix, thief extraordinaire. It’s never been about the money – it’s the thrill of the chase, the Great Game. But this time you’ve gotten yourself in deep. You broke the number one rule of crime – never get attached.

This is something I've been working on for a while that I think is just about ready to get some critique on. It's a noir-themed stealth-platformer about a young, fearless thief who gets framed for a murder. Don't want to give too much away about the story - partly because I haven't quite finished writing it yet and anything could change really.

This game is being developed with the amazing Construct 2 engine. Everything done by myself, utilising public-domain music and sound-effects. Currently the game is going to be released free Hand Money Right  Hand Thumbs Down Left Noir, so I'll be posting links to builds you can play every so often.

Hey just saw the video and tried out the game. Really like the concept but think the movement needs to be tightened at the moment the precise jumping can be a hassle. Got caught lots of times while trying to jump onto the first statue.

Love these type of games though and really looking forward to what you do with it. Also the unlocking with the letters is a great feature and like how it changes if you get it wrong.

You should take a look at Gunpoint because it's a similar concept so interesting to see how someone else approaches it.

Will be following your progress  Smiley

EDIT. Also great name.

@Franklins Ghost - Thanks! Yes, I'm trying to tighten up the platformer movement. I really like Gunpoint! It was probably one of the inspirations for this project - although it's a bit less of a puzzler, and more of a platformer.

Changelog:

+ New first level: Burkwood (New artwork!)
+ New WIP level: 2nd National (New artwork!)
+ Added switches
+ Changed dialogue: you now click on the buttons to proceed, instead of using shortcuts
+ Added tooltips to items - encouraging player to use the mouse to explore the world
+ Added mute buttons to both the main menu screen and the level selection screen
+ The game remembers if you mute it now, and muting in general should be a lot more reliable.
+ Added menu button to the top right of the screen
+ More probably. Who knows. Definitely more.

New Screenshots!

On level one I opened the door using q but now still can't enter the room. Not sure why?
