I'm looking for some hopefully not hybridized RPGs(ie no action) to play, but I can live. My preference is a focus on character development and ideas, like Ultima, Planescape: Torment, or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. But I also like silly stuff such as Wasteland or Fallout.
If you think you might be more interested in the combat side of things, check out Knights of the Chalice. The demo is very hefty and will kick your ass. =) If you stick with it and beat the demo you should know whether you would enjoy the full game.
The price tag of the full game is very hefty, too, but it's a hefty game. Bought it last year and really really enjoyed it, you have to think very hard to win. It's purely turn-based, and definitely an Indie RPG, which is why I suggest it. It's not as developed in the story or conceptual department as it is in the battle mechanics department, but that is because the battle mechanics are extremely deep.
Finally, I want to say that the other awesome thing is that virtually each battle is unique. Like, there are very few situations where you are like, "oh, another 6 trolls to hack through." Instead, it's constantly throwing unique scenarios at you that really do require creative solutions. I really can't emphasize this enough. Virtually every battle requires it's own unique strategy, some took me days to realize winning strategies for.
