(modern warfare 2 and 3, and that black mops game, even though they're all the same.)
If you don't see a clear difference between black ops and modern warfare then you are not a competent judge.

having played about 2 hours of halo and 10 hours of call of duty (modern warfare 2 and 3, and that black mops game, even though they're all the same.), halo seemed to have the better aiming. i don't remember why, but i preferred halo more than call of duty
Halo and COD both have autoaim, but they use it differently. Halo slows down and pulls your crosshair towards an enemy, thus making it easier to acquire targets and hold on them. Given how much health everybody has in Halo, this is ideal. Call of Duty snaps your view to your target when you aim down your sights. I greatly prefer the Halo scheme on console controls, as it mimics the hand movements someone using a mouse + keyboard use. If you don't see a clear difference between black ops and modern warfare then you are not a competent judge.
They really aren't that different. The only major differences are how they approach the player's multiplayer progression.

Modern Warfare is 60fps, Halo3 is 30fps. Halo 3 features inconsistent accelerating-model, while Modern Warfare is mainly linear mapping. There is a reason why Modern Warfare navigation model is superior, every competitive pro-player would agree.
do you have a source or are you spouting nonsense again?

Except we are talking about consoles, thus auto-aim is important because all console games use an acceleration model (the farther you press the stick, the faster you turn) instead of a linear model (move your mouse a set distance to turn a set distance). You can't get the same precision on console that you can on PC in regards to shooters.
And you were the one that told shelby he "isn't a competent judge" because he said the COD games are pretty similar to each other. If you can't take getting schooled, don't come to class.

First off, I am spot on. It is just that you don't always get me. The talk was solely about aiming on consoles, no other qualities. First off mouse-aiming is an entirely different subject. It is mapping your movement to rotation. That is why it is more direct and results in higher fidelity in expression. When we talk about thumbsticks-aiming then there is a fundamental difference between MW and most other shooters. Yes the further you push the stick the faster you rotate but here are different models. MW maps thumb-displacement linearly to rotation-speed while Halo3 starts to correspond to a non-linear function way too early, making aiming-feel less consistent and harder to predict. Just observe how average players achieve diagonal aim or follow crosshair cursor along a shape(just for training purpose), they aim first horizontally, then vertically but not directly diagonally through. In Modern Warfare you feel almost familiar with direct diagonal aiming because of these properties. And of course because it is more responsive (60 fps opposed to 30).

How do you know it's not just a 60fps update rate for the draw function with interpolation? The actual update rate could be lower.

It doesn't make sense technically since update- and draw-calls are not multithreaded. Draw() will only be called after update() has finished. So it means that update() has to finish before draw() gets called. That is a 60fps rate. So update() has to be able to execute its routine in max 1/60 sec to guarantee stable quality and high render-rate anyway.

There's no reason why they can't be.(unless the consoles don't support multithreading--which they do.) You don't know this is true.

Of course console games support multithreading. But multithreading isn't used the way you think. Multithreading inside the update()-function is less problematic. But separating update()- and draw()-calls is not how games are done. It is not common practice. Developers don't want to deal with a new world of problems. There may be some exceptions but modern warfare is not one of them.
