Yep, I noticed (I've been checking traffic sources as they appear). ^^
One interesting thing is that the majority of my traffic so far has been from other people mentioning the game. I still think word of mouth can be overestimated, but at least so far it's more powerful than anything I've done.

NeoGAF was a huge disappointment for me. 91 views in 8 hours and no replies. They don't know what's good for 'em. Still, maybe I'll get a week's ban for bumping it tomorrow :D

Can you post links to those topics on NeoGAF and Eurogamer? I'll try to post something there to bump 'em.

It's not only about the number of replies, but also about the amount of hits they give the site (and thus the number of potential downloaders -- though I don't currently track which traffic source leads to which downloads). Neogaf led to 18 hits, eurogamer 11. You should have waited and taken advantage of the half-off for 15 links offer ^_^
I don't think bumping them is necessary, I don't want to have a Ron Paul style effect where everyone thinks that a few dedicated supporters are spamming, where the supporters go "ooh, another poll, let's all vote for Ron Paul there!" (note, I like Paul but I don't like that tactic).
8 hours isn't really that much time anyway. And not everyone likes tower defense games, so a lot of my marketing is geared around letting those who already like those types of games know about this one.

Just a note to say fiddling about with drivers made that weird sound effect bug go away. I'll probably be tempted to buy it now because that was the only annoying thing about it

Good to hear, glad you were able to fix it. The sound is one of the parts of the game I'm most proud of actually, even though not a lot of reviews of the game mention it (and some dislike the 'breaking glass' sound for the enemies, they wanted simple explosions cause it's how every other game sounds).

OK yeah. hehe I saw the linking offer but I'd already bought by then and I like the game enough to pimp it without perks You're right, I don't think other people bumping the topics is a particularly good idea.

I'd just like to mention that the game is free for one day over at http://game.giveawayoftheday.com -- so take this opportunity to try out the full game if you'd like to play it and couldn't afford it. Although it's the full version of the game, there are some restrictions: they tell me (I haven't actually confirmed this) that it can only be installed once. Also, anyone who gets it free from that site will not have access to future patches of the game (which will include new levels, a medals system, level modding, new music, a graphics upgrade, and so on). I know this will probably reduce sales and seems weird from a business standpoint, but the site is very popular so it's probably worth increasing how many people know about the game, I suspect it'll pay off in the long run.

Good question. I've no problem with it, but I don't really know if it's important enough as "news" to frontpage -- but if you want to put it there, that's fine by me.
The worst that could happen would be I lose one or two sales by people who would have bought it otherwise, or else that people who did buy it become angry that they didn't wait for today, but I think most people would be more understanding. It's an experiment after all.
What's funny is I got an email from the site about my post about the game on Indygamer, saying to mention it (I don't think they realized that the same person posted the news there and made the game).

Rinkuhero, I hope that the free give away will really help the game. People might try it out and enjoy it. Alot of people don't risk buying games without trying them first and don't download demos. Weird behavior if you ask me. tagging a FREE price tag usually capture their attentions. They don't care if it's good or not, it's free! Anyways, I hope you get alot of attention with this! Keep us informed! Guert
