Even more limited, considering that it's a DS game. I have it, but I still think La Mulana is the best pick.

There's Red Rescue Team for GBA, which is easy to emulate. I'd be up for that.

I thought we were trying to do stuff that can be done easily for free i.e. zelda (zelda classic) or la mulana (free by default)

Easy and free was never a requirement, but it was / is a good idea.

La Mulana should still be next. Then everyone is going to help solve the Labyrinth with me.

If the next game costs anything, you can probably expect the number of participants to drop by about 99%

I'd do this, too. I played Blue Mystery Dungeon for the DS, but I never finished it.

Like all the games mentioned here I would be interested in red rescue team or really any graphical rogue like but I've been wanting to play one of the pokemon ones for a while.  Although for next I still think la mulana sounds like the best option.

It seems like we need to come up with some way of picking the next game to do.  The simplest seems like just having someone pick one and then they pick the person who picks next, but we could also try a poll thing.  That seems like it might get to complicated though.

I think our current way of picking, just by general consensus, is fine.

I'm up for some La Mulana.  Smiley

Oh no, I agree that La Mulana should be a given; and it should be next!

Just that the PMD games is another idea for the backburner. It's a great introduction to Roguelikes in general too, without being excessively brutal, and relating it to PokeMon rulesets that practically everybody understands.

Red Rescue Team is easily emulatable now, and I do think Red/Blue Rescue Team would be the better option than the DS versions; but if a different group of players want to do those too, then it's fair game. It may even highlight the differences between them better, too.

Let me help get the ball rolling for the next game.

HOW TO GET LA MULANA IN ENGLISH

La Mulana is a Japanese freeware game that requires a patch to play in English (The developer's Japanese website: http://3hiki.blogspot.com/). Here are the instructions for making it work! The English translation is courtesy of Gideon Zhi and his cohorts at Aeon Genesis translations (http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=lamulana).

1. Download La Mulana in Japanese. Use the following link and download to your desktop: http://agtp.romhack.net/extra/LA-MULANA.zip

2. Unzip La Mulana's folder into a directory of your choice (my personal preference is a folder on my desktop). It is already self-contained in a folder for your convenience!

3. Download the English Patch courtesy of Aeon Genesis. Download at the following link: http://agtp.romhack.net/download.php?id=lamulana

4. Run the EXE file from the patch zip folder.

5. When the patch prompts you to do so, navigate to the La Mulana folder from step 2.

6. You can now run La Mulana fully in English just by running the La Mulana exe! The patch translates the manual in the La Mulana folder as well.

BIG TIP: What the manual does not tell you is that the item you need to save the game is not an item with which you begin! You will need to purchase this item in base camp to save your progress.

Good luck and have fun!

No!

You have to start the "La Mulana" thread to make it an official call-to-arms.
