The "Life is not fair" argument doesn't defend the pointlessness of these rooms.

The same effect could be gained by making the loss of a heart container temporary until you beat the dungeon, or making the player fight an unexpected miniboss if they make a wrong turn. The fact of the matter is that you don't get any warning and are permanently punished for something you could not be expected to avoid. "Planning" for these involves grinding for rupees, a mindless and simple task that wastes time and artificially inflates your play time.

there's more than enough rupees in hidden/secret areas from moblins than you could ever use, there's no reason to grind for them. that's assuming you know all the secrets of course, but they aren't *that* hard to find after you get the red candle

Money Or Your Life rooms are shitty game design.

Do the secret to everybody rooms outweigh the door repair rooms?

They AREN'T fair. But guess what? Neither is real life.

I'm just going to point out that this is probably the single stupidest defense of a videogame design decision, so congratulations on that I guess.
