Well I tried out the "Change Special"-style interface and it didn't really work! So I've eliminated a verb and added an extra button so that things you can do over and over again (attack & jump) get their own button, while limited abilities (skills, spells, consumables) get a radial menu (toggle-able atm, but I might make it a press and hold for the gamepad if it feels better). I'm pretty sure this is the way to go.

@Pcmx - I was a bit confused by the file. Were you suggesting a form of input where you press two buttons to activate a third mechanic?

Yes, exactly.  But I was thinking keyboard, not gamepad.  It didn't work entirely since the one button still does its thing before the third mechanic operates.
